Season ticket holders just received an email that read:

With the season quickly approaching, we know that our season ticket members may be planning their Lakers schedules. We want to make you aware that you may want to hold on to your tickets for the game on December 18, 2017, a special event will be announced in the coming weeks. We’ll update you when more information becomes available.

Could this be the date we retire Kobe's jersey????

Usually people tend to pick winnable games for Jersey retirement ceremonies. Like the Heat did for Shaq against us. Plus it was an extra bonus for Lakers fans to show up at AA Arena.

The annual beat down theme was when we were a crappy team, now when we meet the Warriors, we will likely be seen as a respectful team squaring off against the Warriors....

And then still lose, but it will be closer though.

atm, the only other thing i can think of is honoring the '87-88 b2b champs. Or maybe to celebrate that the Clippers are moving out?

It might be a tribute to Chick Hearn, do they have his statue outside of Staples maybe that's the announcement?

I just bit the bullet and bought $400 seats in the 200 section from Ticketmaster. You have to be careful of buying through other sites like Stubhub or Seatgeek - almost all the tickets I saw there gave the seller the option to cancel the ticket and refund your money, sometimes up to the day before the game.

This policy really hurt buyers during Kobe's final game vs Utah. It was reported that several sellers just cancelled the paid sales after it was announced Kobe was retiring. They refunded the money and tripled or quadrupled their original asking price, so the buyers who wanted to see the game were screwed. So though your money may not be at risk, the chances of not having a guaranteed ticket are very high. The seller can basically cancel on you at any time.

Theories:

1. First game after Dec 15th. KCP for Paul George confirmed.
2. Every fan in attendance gets a talking Lavar Ball bobblehead.
3. Stu launches his rap career and demos his first single, Noooice.
4. Kareem's Jazz band plays during the half-time show.
-4a. Kobe reads poetry while Kareem's band goes into an extended jam.
5. The Lakers unveil CP3s left over selfie poster the Clippers threw away to honor the Veto. In the lower right corner it says $500k, PG down payment. XO, MJ.

Maybe a Jerry Buss statue. Chick's was posthumous.
