This sucks. We don't need this money.

And Nike got our colours wrong. The gold is almost bright yellow, just like a marker pen

Doesn't half the money go to the players?

Gotta admit that the Warriors ad will be viewed more for the next couple of years.

The Lakers have signed a jersey patch deal with S.F.-based e-commerce company Wish. The three-year agreement, according to a source, is between $12-14M annually, putting it on the top tier of NBA jersey patch deals. The Warriors' recent jersey patch deal with Rakuten is worth $20M annually but also includes naming rights to the team’s practice facility.

It's actually not a bad looking logo and has a nice synergy with the lakers name below and colors.. still wish we didn't use one but oh well... could be a lot worse.

Wonder how LeBron feels about this

Press Release

Quote:
EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers today announced a multi-year partnership with Wish, a California based, e-commerce platform. As part of the partnership, Wish’s logo will be featured on Lakers jerseys beginning in the 2017-18 season.

The partnership, which brings together two global brands, will include a large-scale integrated marketing program, including in- arena fan engagement, social and digital activation. In addition, the two companies will collaborate on various community initiatives within Los Angeles and in the surrounding counties.

"We are incredibly pleased to partner with the NBA’s most iconic brand," said Peter Szulczewski, CEO of Wish. "The Lakers epitomize a legacy of excellence and worldwide success. This partnership symbolizes our shared focus to reach all fans, not only within the LA community, but across every continent."

"We are thrilled to welcome Wish as a new partner of the Los Angeles Lakers," said Tim Harris, President of Business Operations and Chief Operating Officer. "When it came to the jersey patch, knowing its prominent placement, our goal was to partner with an innovative and ambitious global company. Wish more than checks that box. They are a leader in e-commerce and are constantly striving to grow and improve their brand and how they connect with their consumers. In addition, and most importantly, we are excited to partner with a company that shares our commitment to giving back to the community."

Wish’s logo will be on a patch stitched into the Lakers jersey on the front left shoulder opposite the Nike logo. The team will wear the jersey for the first time during the Lakers first preseason game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves on September 30th at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

The Wish patch will also be featured on the South Bay Lakers jersey, the Lakers' NBA G League minor league team, as well as on select jerseys for the Junior Lakers.

The Lakers partnered with WME | IMG’s Global Partnerships group on the jersey patch opportunity.

Careful now...if the Lakers tried to be different and refuse this jersey ad campaign, the small market owners would go crying to Silver about how the big bad Lakers cheat/tamper and that the lakers need to compensate them accordingly.

It appears the "practice facility naming rights" in the NBA are around $2 Million per year at the top end...so the Warriors probably only got about $4.5 Million more per year for the actual jersey ad.

Quote:
One industry source said that NBA practice facility naming-rights deals range from $500,000 to $2 million annually, depending on the level of the team’s national media exposure.

Looks like they just added a random word in a random font to the existing jersey.

That's not even a logo, just some company's name. They won't even make enough from this to pay Luol Deng's salary.

At first I was like "what the"... but it doesn't look bad. As far as I know we are just behind the Warriors on the revenue from the ad. It blends in, unlike the Warriors patch. And my wife said she shopped there a few times and it's pretty fun. So I'm happy with it. Initially I wanted Disney (ORL got them), Target, or some other giant house hold name, but the Wish logo looks decent. I do like the yellow Goodyear on the Cavs, the green GE on the Celtics, and the Harley Davidson on the Bucks, but Wish works too.

If it was "Vish" instead of "wish", I would have bought 100 jerseys.

Why not Jack-in-the-Box? Or some LA-based company? Who the hell is Wish? Another dotcom that will be belly up in a year?

It is the company's logo.

If you are ever on a site and see an ad selling Chinese made stuff at really low prices, that's Wish.
