Misleading title.

"Fired" and "unpaid administrative leave" are two different things. It very well may lead to a firing, but that's not the case as of yet.

The UAL route is often the employer's preferred immediate response to insulate the company from further short term incidents and liability following news of a workplace incident or an investigation's start. Gives them time to gain better understanding of the facts surrounding the basis for an expected termination for cause. Typically, it's also a hedge against unfavorable outcomes in the event of subsequent wrongful termination actions that may taken by the ousted guy.

And the pay rate is the same.
