Aside from our rookies who haven't played an NBA game yet to evaluate more accurately, no one else in this team has shot over 40% from three's while also attempting more than five per game. Nick Young was the only one to do it last season and he's gone. Argument can be made this team may not be as good as last year's in terms of 3-point shooting. Seems we'll be a running team mostly.

Depends what the goal is.
Win 33-35 games? Nah.
Get 8th seed and lose to the Warriors?
Compete and see how far it leads them?

Yes, we are definitely in need of better three point shooters. However, I predict that Clarkson will shot a healthy percentage from deep, maybe 37-40%. Ingram and Randle will improve their shooting and of course Lopez hit 134 three pointers last season. Kuzma might be the best sniper on the team, but I how much run will he get with Randle and Nance in front of him? With that being said, we are still in need of three point shooters. I forgot about KCP. Maybe he hits 40% of his threes? That would be great. He makes me a bit nervous though.

Removing stars from the equation, that has got to be a pretty small list. Probably less than 5 players.

We will know soon enough.

KCP and Lopez are both good and proven 3 point shooters

Ball and Kuzma have a lot of promise but haven’t done it in the NBA so there is hope but they are rookies.

Clarkson was almost average and hopefully he has improved to above average.

BI was below average hopefully he can’t become average. Same for Randle and Nance

Zubac didn’t really shoot more than a couple last year but showed potential from 15-20 so he may improve and become average

Brewer is terrible

Deng is below average

Bryant won’t play much but offers hope down the road as a 3 point shooter

Hart won’t play much but did pretty good in college and mighty help this year if there is a trade.

Ennis well he is better than Brewer.

Anyway if you look at the guys that are in the rotation we will be counting on a lot of our players making significant improvement or to be proven in this area. Preseason and the first 10 games out to tell us where we stand in this area. We need to be at least average if we have hopes of making the playoffs.

If we can be average in 3 point shooting and above average in transition offense we will be in a good position providing our defense improves by a lot.

Nope. Those aren't as valuable as defensive players who can pass and hit 3s.

No question. None of the guys are 40% shooters.

Yup. This is why my pipe dream is getting Klay to do what Kyrie did and become The Man here when his current deal is up.

I stumbled laughing on the "still" and "more" modifiers in the OP's topic question. Do the Lakers still need to add more three pointer shooting ? Sheet, man, they needed to add a first three point shooter to the roster months ago.

They didn't, so I'm OK with that. The goal on the season is clearly not to win a playoff berth; it's to develop the players already here and figure who works best with Ingram and Ball, then make moves so as to acquire three point shooters and play makers. I'm on board with all of that too. One step at a time.

The Lakers need players that can step into threes in transition. Their feet were awful on some of those wide open 3's.

This Lakers team don't have real 3-pt shooters, they have players who can shoot a 3. There's a difference.

We lost Dlo/swaggy/lou. My concern was this and today we shot 3-20 from
3s?

What we need is a scoring three point shooting guard that can trade ball handling responsibilities with Lonzo but is enough of a scorer to drop 20-30 if need be when the offense breaks down.

But there isn't that many available. KCP needs to play much better than he played tonight however.

Yes. If not we will struggle for points every game and go through scoring droughts and play catch up all year.

We don't have Swaggy P and lou Williams.

Kyle Kuzma is the only guy out there that can get buckets and he is only a rookie.

We do not have the fire power. This could an ugly season.
