I only remember him for the interim head coaching stint, and that he was revered on the Kings coaching staff.

Lakers Statement on Passing of Frank Hamblen

Quote:
“Frank Hamblen was a great coach and a good friend,” said Lakers Head Coach Luke Walton. “He was not only beloved by everyone in the Lakers organization but by those in the NBA community as well. Frank coached me as a rookie and in addition to all I learned from him on the court, he also emphasized how important it was to enjoy life off the court as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to Frank’s family. ”

Damn. Hamblen has been such a fixture in my life for how long I've been watching basketball. I always give him a ton of credit for his stint here during that disastrous 04-05 season.

RIP Coach.

Sorry to hear this. When he was the interim head coach in 2005 we found that he had a great sense of humor and was really self-effacing.
