How the hell Denver is in 3d place of the WC when they have a similar record as ours?.... Is it their division? Because they are 6-3 and everyone in that division sucks!!! |

yes their division. like if we got the 6 seed, and had a better record than denver(but denver won their division) then denver would get the higher seed. 1, 2, 3 seeds go to top 3 division winners. but if a division winner faces a team that has a better record than them(but didnt win their division), then that other team would get homecourt |

It's like if a team is first place in a crappy division, they still get a high standing even if they have a crappy record like 25-23 or something they can still be 3rd or 4th if they're in a crappy division. |

The top three seeds in each conference are saved for the leaders of the three divisions. However, if the 6th seed has a better record than the 3rd seed, the 6th gets home court. It doesn't matter too much, other than to say, that the 6th spot is probably the best place to be. We face an easier team and might have homecourt. Additionally, being 5th is death, since with both the Mavs and the Spurs in the same division, one of them gets forced down to 4th (to play the 5th).
Remember that records determine home court and where your pick ends up, so don't worry too much. Sorry to ruin the surprise folks, but we ain't going all the way this year. |

Seedings:
1.) Division Winner
2.) Division Winner
3.) Division Winner
(ordered by record compared to each other)
4-8.) Best remaining 5 teams by record
That is why Dallas, despite having the 2nd-best record in the West, is
currently in the 4th-seed (they play in the same division as a division
leader, therefore cannot be ranked in the top-3 without leading that
division).
It's actually a lame system in alot of ways.
If the playoffs started today, the 6th seed would not only have home-court
over the 3rd-seed in Round-1, but would also have a far more favorable
path in the playoffs than would the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th seeds.
That's why so many on here want the Lakers to somehow end up with
the 6th seed. |
