He's still young. He'll be out of there in two years having made over $100m.
That doesn't suck. |
Plus he gets to live in the best US major city. |
I love NO but stop it's isn't close to being the best. |
sure it is to a lot of people.....all depends on the person and what they value... |
I go NYC>NO, but those would be my top two. I have a life long love of the Lakers, but being la multimillionaire athlete in Gotham playing in MSG forty times a year would be sick. |
yeah, for me personally...I do not think any American city can compete with New York....and I also agree that the Garden would be my preferred place to perform in the NBA.....but some people want/like different things. |

I'm at $10-12MM for him, although if his first-year salary is $12MM, maybe it will be $14MM by the end of the deal. |
Can’t we do Jules’ contract like Tyler Johnson $48-50mil/4yr ( $8mil x 2 yr then $16mil x 2 yr ) then we’ll likely still have cap space in 2018 and sign the other youngster over cap due to bird’s right? |
He was an Arenas RFA IIRC. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

And when his contract gets matched by Orlando, all three teams would then go after Julius Randle (ehhh, maybe not Phoenix, but Dallas will roll out the red carpet for him. And Indy needs more young talent). |
Are we certain that Orlando would match a full max, $25MM starting salary for him? Yes, Gordon has some talent, but he's not exactly erupted yet, and his improvement in shooting the 3-ball still has him at a .346 mark overall on the year, a mark that has been dropping precipitously with each passing month. |
I do not think Orlando would consider matching a full max.....there is a lot of speculation that Orlando will not be bidding high to keep Gordon....they like him, and will pay him as a player they "like" not one they "love". My speculation is anything over a $17-$18 Million offer and that team has bought themselves a PF. |

Let's hope Jabari Parker has good playoff performances. That would add another legitimate RFA PF. My hope is that Randle takes the QO. |

This depends entirely on whether you are determining this by administrative boundaries or metro area. If the latter, LA is #18 globally (under it's definition as a "megacity").
Of course I pretty much refuse to acknowledge anything in the NE as legit anything. |

I think they have to match on him. They gave away Payton for peanuts. Hezonja could sign anywhere. They traded Sabonis and Oladipo for Ibaka (who's gone now). That'd be 5 lottery picks gone for basically nothing. He's the closest thing they've had to a star since Dwight. They have to keep him. |

The way he led Pacers against Lebron's Miami with a supporting cast of Hibbert and Lance makes me think that he can be the main guy on the Lakers. |
I think the assumption of that player quoted is PG would sign a 2+1 deal with OKC so he could opt out and sign as a player with 10 years experience. Even if he signs with the Lakers, would not be surprised if it is a 2+1 (player option) deal. |
I think that fits OKC’s plans, spend for two more seasons then blow it up. In 2 years our team should look better to George, hopefully be in the playoffs. |
Of course talk is cheap, but the last word I heard from PG is that he wants his next signing to be his last team. |

Looking at the Orlando picks, trades, and not picking up options, their FO has been atrocious. |

I don't see that happening. No RFA has ever taken the QO in the first two weeks of free agency. He would have to do that, if the goal is to sign LBJ and PG. |

It's being reported that Mitch will be getting the assistant GM spot in Charlotte. Hopefully he'll take Deng back. |
If Mitch will take Deng and one 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks and we get Kemba Walker and Kaminsky back, I will personally leave a voice mail with Jeanie Buss and suggest to her that Mitch is next up for a statue at Staples Center. |
Throw in Ingram and you might have a deal. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

It's unlikely but that is my hope.
As for your reasoning, we can get commitments from the two maxes and then wait on Randle. They'll be waiting for a possible Deng trade anyway assuming the FO likes Randle enough. The two maxes don't have to sign immediately. |

I think it's more likely to get Randle for $10m/yr for 4 years, which would be my preference anyway. |

I don't see any of them pursuing JR, but that's fine if they do, and even better if they go after Gordon first.
Even if Orlando ended up matching, they'd most likely wait the full three days, which would mean the Lakers would have until July 12th to match any offer that those teams might make if they go for Gordon first.
More than enough time to know what's happening with PG/Bron, and to make a deal to move Deng if the 2 maxes are coming. |
