If Chicago wants to dump Portis, I wonder if they would send Nwaba with him?

Lakers get:
Portis
Nwaba

Bulls get:
Clarkson

The Bulls would have the cap space to take on Clarkson, and would provide them a needed scoring guard....especially until Lavine is healthy.

The Lakers would shed Clarksons salary, and get a young defensive wing in Nwaba. We have no need for Portis....could simply waive him.

I would also keep a eye on the Suns, we might be able to get some assets, they have some nice pieces on cheap contracts.

It's October. What juicy news could he possibly have about July 2018?

Always a chance he knows something about what LeBron and PG13 plan to do.

I'm pretty sure as the season just started, neither PG13/LBJ are thinking about July 2018 right now.

Lebron and PG have no idea what they plan to do.

Woj finally knows someone in the Lakers, probably Pelinka. Before he couldn't get any sources from us, causing him to shed a more negative light on us. Ever since Pelinka stepped in it's been pretty positive on his end, although I have yet to hear his latest podcast.

The media is smart. They know if they talk about the Lakers they will get clicks, hits, and views.

The Herd, First Take, Skip Bayless, ESPN, The Ringer... They all know if they mention the Lakers they'll gather interest.

Just listened to the podcast. They had windhorst and bobby marks as guests. They basically talked about several scenarios to open space for Lebron/George. Woj didn't think it was a good idea to stretch Deng. Better to trade him if possible. Woj did mention the Bulls but just as an idea. They talked about what it would take to move Deng. For starters probably a future 1st unprotected. They also discussed Deng and Randle as a package deal. There is more detail. Still just a bunch of ideas. Go to around 45:00 on podcast.

Even if Woj was being speculative it seems like he knows something about Deng being traded with a added filler to open up cap room, I will be sad to see Randle go but business is business.

Will that filler be Ball or Ingram?

It will likely be Randle added in a Deng deal

Deng played for Chicago and they could want him back if good assets from the Lakers was part of the deal.

They discussed briefly about Ingram being traded. But they weren't sure the Lakers would want to trade him right now. I would assume if traded the Lakers would try to package him with Deng.

I thought he’s the future along with Ball? If we are trading him we better be getting someone really good, not just a salary dump.

Why would Chicago want to obliterate their cap space with Deng + Jules (who needs to be re-signed)?

I think 1 big reason is because the Bulls know they aren’t going anywhere for a while, and Randle is better for them then overpaying for some vet like Monroe, they aren’t gonna get any marquee FAs to go there so Randle signing a extension in Chicago makes sense, again it really depends if the Bulls really like Deng around the Bulls locker room and that Randle is a better alternative then using cap space on overrated vets.

Tidbits from WOJ POD.

Bulls as a destination for Deng. They have cap and are bad so need to accumulate assets by taking on bad contracts. Also need a leader and Deng is a familiar face.

Woj doesn't think Ingram would be traded.

Talked about attaching Deng/Randle to a team that wants randle and willing to pay him.

Importance of trading Deng now because if 2018 comes and we have per say Lebron and George willing to come. We will be not have any leverage cause teams know we have to get rid of Deng and will ask for a premium.

Some Lebron Paul george stuff, but Windhorst did say that even if its not them we should look to off load contracts.

They would have to send back matching deals. Which players are on expiring deals that add up?

no prob man! I hope we can somehow offload Deng. Although I'm not that high on George/Lebron coming.

This all sounds logical to me. As much as I would love for Julius to be here long-term, the fact is he'd need to show significant improvement to do so.

As of now we have 4 players who are best suited for the PF position in Julius, Nance, Kuzma, and Deng, and Randle has proven to be a pretty decent pro player. No more so far, but certainly no less. If we can alleviate that in the next 2-3 months, I'd do it by trading Deng and Randle together... unless Julius proves to be a 16 and 9 player with improvement in either Ds or 3s.

Until he does that, though, he has to be a potential trade piece.

R.Lopez has 2 years remaining on his contract, I could see him being apart of
the deal, plus he reunites with his brother.
