Imagine how bad the Sixers would look this year had they traded Simmons and Embiid at the start of the year for Kawhi when they could have waited and signed him this July for free.

Not saying our youth is at that level... but at the beginning of the season... people would have said I'll do that deal in a second. A year later it sounds like sheer insanity.

The... man... is... seriously... injured...

Ingram's numbers are better than Kawhi at 20 years old.

We can have KL for free if we wait until next year.

Why are we rushing to get rid of those hard won assets?

u know we can reject the trade if he fails the physical right?

Also if it pulls winning championship by 2/3 years why should we care about which players make that happen?

We are not trading for a 31/32year old player who will soon be on the decline. He is only 26year old and if healthy top 3player in the league

I'm not saying we shouldn't sign Kawhi. I'm saying there is no need to get rid of our core. I said the same thing about LeBron earlier when he was the center of speculation.

Lebron will be a FA, he will cost us 35% of the cap. Leonard will cost us 20% of the cap, he and Randle around 32%. That is why you don’t wait.

Isn't that just for one year?

Yes

a lineup of

Kuz
Kawahi
PG
Lonzo
goes deep in the playoffs. this might even give us a chance to sign a player like IT

Why are BI's stats vs Kawhi's stats at the same age misleading ?

And the lineup below goes even farther than the one you're proposing:

Randle
Kawhi
PG
BI
Lonzo

With Hart, Kuz, Bryant, Zu, Cavs pick, Denver pick plus Lopez (room exception after a 1 yr deal this summer) off the bench.

Basically, you're giving up BI to get Kawhi a year early and to sign IT.

No thanks. Better to wait and have the roster I just outlined.

And Simmons. Actually mostly Simmons.

No, Actually not. They were actually 25-25 after 50 games. 36-30 after 66 games. They took off when they got Belly and Sova. Belly just average 16 off the bench against the Heat.

And Simmons was the best player in the series. A young team is expected to get better throughout the year.

But they didn't get better until they got Belly and Sova. 66 games is large sample size.

They are something like 23-2 since they added the shooting.

Simmons is the reason not some journeyman bench players. I can’t believe this is a discussion.

I can't believe you don't understand what I am saying . Simmons was on the team when they were 36- 30. The extra shooting allowed Simmons to be the best version of himself. If you think they would still be winning at this level when they had one of the worse benches in basketball, I don't know what to tell you.

He only said IT because he thought that would appease me... he doesn't like him much more than you do.

What people don't understand is that I'm not wedded to the idea... I just want us to build the best team possible... and unless we sign LBJ... we need that backup point guard.

Cause and effect would suggest that, but I have a hard time seeing how Bellinelli and Ellysova of all people would make a team that good. Those guys were just random journeymen before this year. Consequently, Simmons' numbers went through the roof during that final stretch

That's because you don't want to see it. The Sixers had one of the better starting 5's in the league, but a terrible bench. No one is suggesting that their more important than Simmons . Just that the extra shooting unlocked Simmon's game.

Of course they help. But it’s been mostly because of Simmons, as I said.

I've asked a couple times, and I'm curious to get some feedback..

Say we sign 2 of LBJ/PG/KL as FA's, no trades. How do we clear up the logjam in the front court with Randle/BI/Kuz? If we're unwilling to trade our youth for stars believing they can become them, do we want to stunt their growth coming off the bench for 3-4 years then be capped out when we have to resign everybody?

You really ready to role with this for the forseeable future? Our best two young prospects playing out of position and another coming off the bench..

Yup, and I disagree wholeheartedly about the position thing

After that ending sequence in the Cavs vs pacers game, I think the lakers are nuts if they don't snap up lebron assuming they have a chance during the summer. lebron absolutely has to be the first phone call at midnight

The block followed by the clutch 3 pointer? Forget about it.

True but call me a homer , I think his supporting core right now is arguably a lot worst than what we currently have.

Its like him vs the entire pacers team.

Lebron is so (bleep) good but the Pacers had no one who could stay in front of him. He had 35 points before he took his first jumper. The man is pretty unreal though.

Oladipo is also single handedly destroying the Pacers with his bricks and ball stopping offense. 2nd consecutive 2-15 FG game and Nate still plays him 40 minutes.

Such garbage. Oladipo is gonna prove to be a one year wonder next season.

‘Twas a goaltend but the game winner was still amazing. Don’t know how he can sustain this. This is just the first round.

Still kinda sucks that we will have to wait for Lebron to lose at the ECF due to playing either the injury riddled Celtics or a Bucks team with Greek Freak and weak friends.

I just got done watching the Cavs game...

Here I go....

What Lebron is doing 15 years is insane...he gets nothing from his teammates.....How about all the Clarkson lovers that used to chime in here? He sucks.....kiss that....

And what Lebron is doing, makes him unique.....there has never been anyone like him.

That block at the end was amazing....

And can you imagine him NOT having to do so much and actually have decent teammate's and a better coach? WOW...

Come to LA...

They got two of our premiere role players + Rodney Hood whom was starting on the Jazz.
