Sure we would all love to just wait with the hopes of signing a better FA in 2019 but you don't turn away a bird in the hand. If Cousins comes with PG, LeBron and PG, whoever, something has to be done with Deng. Plain and simple.

I disagree with the bird in the hand premise when it comes to trying to win a title in the nba. I think you need to go after the guy you think will help you win a title even in that bird is still in the bush for another season. Teams who use the bird in the hand premise prolly are like Toronto, Memphis, just grinding their gears never getting to the promise land. So heck yeah I’d wait an extra season at the chance of getting a guy like Kawhi instead of being content with lesser. I’m not necessarily making a counterpoint to your argument as I would sign PG, Randle, and offer Cousins a one year deal and trade deng for that, just saying in the general terms like when people don’t think going after Kawhi is a good idea. PG, Randle, & 1 year deals this season, Kawhi next is my dream.

Healthy or not, Boogie = losing.

I don't think there has ever been an NBA all-star that has consistently lost as much as Boogie.

So you’re going to ignore he was leading a winning team this season before the injury.

Anthony Davis did it with and without DeMarcus Cousins.

Yup. NO was better without Cousins. That isn’t a fluke.

Let’s also not act like NO was great with Cousins - they were on pace to win 45 games.

45 wins is a winning record you said Cousins = losing. Make up your mind

This would be my number one trade target. Probably cheaper than Kawhi and younger/healthier:

NO got better without him. He was not the reason they were winning. It could be argued that he hurt their overall record.

The owner would have to be a cheap idiot to move KAT this early.

Wait...Glen Taylor is a cheap idiot.

i am talking about where his team was from development side.

He has played for the Kings no one is saving that team. As for NO twin towers dont work in todays game and was still top 25 in rpm before the injury. I know the forum is mostly against signing him but for the right years/price and if we dont sign two of three: PG13, LBJ, Capella I would be tempted to pull the trigger.

False Davis had to play out of his mind which isn’t sustainable and I think you’re forgetting they brought in some more talent.

Boogie is really great in the community. Gives back and holds a lot of events and fundraisers in Sacramento and in New Orleans. Maybe this injury humbled him and let him know that his career won’t last forever. The hate on this dude in this forum is crazy lol. At less than a max we have to take a flier on him.

Not sure he still can be considered “young “ anymore.

He will be 28 years old in a couple months and eight seasons as a professional. He is what he is. Too big a risk. Then he got injured.

Don't know why we're just OK sending Ingram or Kuz out now. Didn't you guys see KAT completely shrink in the playoffs?

Shinny new toys. KAT doesn’t play defense and he shrunk like you said.

I’d do it but I’d fight to swap 2nd round picks instead of giving the bulls second

We're okay sending Ingram out for any thing of value on this sub. Theres atleast 2 Ingram trade proposals every three pages of this thread alone.

I'd like to see him under a different coach before consigning KAT to the dustbin of poor defending bigs.

So two coaches with one of them being a former coach of the year, and the other being one with a championship, and having had one of the best defenses isn’t enough?

yup... they ruined their franchise because they gave Thibs authority to make moves. Towns/Lauri/Wiggins/Lavine/Dunn is pretty damn good. Should kept Rubio too.

Wolves will be screwed once Jimmy leaves them in 2019. Was it worth mortgaging their future for their first playoff series in 14 years? Not sure.

So many options suddenly in the horizon for the Lakers.

1st we have 2 Max slots.
Option to Resign Julius Randle.
Option to Trade for Kawhi or wait for 2019.
Now, KAT can be had via trade if rumors go that way...

Me thinks the Lakers should only prioritize 1 between Lebron James & Paul George.
Then use extra cap to Re-sign Julius Randle.
Then do whatever it takes to Trade for KAT so we will have our future star Center or sign DMC for less than his market value since he is still recovering from Achilless tear...
We still have option to acquire Kawhi in 2019 via FA depends on how FO use our remaining cap space (provided Deng will be traded + other assets).

Lebron or PG13
KAT or DMC
Randle

Then whatever is left from our young guns BI, Ball, Kuzma, Hart.

Its important for a team to have an allstar C, allstar Guard, allstar Forward in their fold.
