I had him in the 2nd tier behind (a) PG-13, (b) LBJ, and (c) RW - but since I now rate our chances for those folks at (a) 10%, (b) 5%, and (c) snowball-in-hell, then I've got these guys moving up my list:

(d) Avery Bradley - great combo guard with legit 2-way game, coming into his prime years (26 y.o. now);

(e) Cousins - range, rebounding, and talent - but Luke REALLY has to reign him in;

(f) Zach Lavine - poor defensive skills, coming off knee injury, but can score from anywhere, not just a dunker;

(g) Norman Powell - versatile young defender, improving offensive game, Swiss Army knife SG with 6-10 wingspan; and

(h) Aaron Gordon - limited range, but athleticism for days and great in open-court and cutting to basket; only room if Deng and Nance or Randle are let go.

RFAs are a waste of time IMO. Lavine is coming off a major injury too and is a horrific defender and inefficient chucker.

Powell is interesting b/c the Raptors are spending a lot of $ on their guys.

Lavine posted a .576 TS% before his injury last season. That's inefficient?

I stand corrected. I guess the games I watched he was in full gunner mode. Regardless, no D, and the injury concerns me, let alone RFA status.

strictly from a basketball POV, Boogie would be a great fit on this roster. His character remains the one X factor. Probably would require another strong vet to reign him in. Tho I think he'd get along well with Luke.

Hadn't realized Lavine was an RFA. Thanks, folks.

Still, the thought of a Ball-Lavine backcourt would be pretty nuts. Lobs and kick-out 3s for DAYS.

LaVine's essentially a shooting guard version of Gerald Green.

I think Kuzma's style is a smarter version of that.

I agree. He's become better than you think, but it doesn't make sense to go after him and KCP might be the better option, anyway.

Lavine is much better than Green. I liken him to a less crazy JR Smith.

Bogut and Bryant will get minutes over Zu, I gotta think the FO will explore packaging Nance and a combination of Clarkson and Zubac for a good shooter, perhaps Belleneli or JR Smith.

So much for my hopes of landing Powell to give us a great Bruin backcourt. Congrats to him - always a quality kid at UCLA: hard-worker, took well to coaching and helped coach others, exemplary teammate and player.

Nice to see the good guys finish first.

George, Bradley, and Cousins still at the top of my FA list next year.

I'm concerned that we might not be able to find s taker for Clarkson. Even with Randle attached to him. Anybody else concerned about this? Any ideas?

Based on the way they boast about having two max slots, they seem to be pretty confident about it.

Someone will pay $30-35 mil for Clarkson and Randle? Maybe if they are dumping $40 in salary on us.

They aren't boasting anymore.

Bingo because they know we can't win and pull this plan off.

Would be interesting to see if either George or James see him as a major reason to come to LA or a detriment. Especially with James, say if the Celts "win" a bidding war vs Cle for Cousins and LBJ thinks "I can fix this guy" and they both join budding team guys (Ball, Ingram and Kuzma) in LA. That's where LBJ's ego could defy logic, and he'd have his fall guy too. Who knows what's in his head, but Cousins could play an extreme roll in signing two stars for LA...not sure if it's good or bad tho.

FYI: Bucks Waive Kendall Marshall

Quote:
The Bucks have waived veteran point guard Kendall Marshall, tweets Matt Velazquez of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Velazquez noted Marshall’s absence from this morning’s Fan Fest scrimmage, as the team only had 19 players participating.

KCP hasnt really impressed in his recent play. if he keeps up the poor play i would rather give his contract to someone like Avery Bradley if of course we miss out on PG, Lebron, or Cousins.

Julius will end up renounced, we'll attach both Denver and Chicago's 2nd in 18 to JC, and Deng will be stretched. Mayyyybee Julius could end up fetching a pick but I'm not so sure that is all that likely...

IMO, we should have made the move to secure the first domino when we had the chance.
