If we don't get two max deals, I wouldn't mind Jordan for a big one year deal.

I think George is coming, so if LeBron for some reason stays I Cleveland, DJ and Paul George is still a very successful FA.

Real talk

PG and Jordan would be a great addition

Charlotte is finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, league sources tell ESPN. Nets will save $17M on deal in 2019-20 season, allowing them to create two max salary slots.

Nets making moves.

I’m about DJ - rebounder, rim protector, still can get up and down for fast breaks... might be a better fit than Brolo. I like it as a plan B. Along with the core, PG, and DJ, that’s a good 3rd seed squad.

2019: Kawhi, Kyrie, Klay, do you want to play with Lonzo or D'Angelo?

A great PG with DJ is what makes him lethal.

Here's my opinion regarding LeBron and Paul George.

Within the past several years, the Lakers went into the off-season targeting the biggest free agents in the market and eventually striking out on every single one of them.

What was apparent is that all of those top level free agents were rumored to go somewhere else from the beginning.

Howard was rumored to go to the Rockets.
LaMarcus Aldridge was rumored to go to the Spurs.
Carmelo was rumored to go to the Knicks.
LeBron was rumored to go to the Cavs.

This is just me personally, but I feel better going into this off-season because all rumors are pointing heavily towards the Lakers.

So Mitch's first action as GM was sending Dwight Howard away in a salary dump

He remembers what Dwight did

DeAndre Jordan and Lonzo ball two of the worst free throw shooters in the league.

Pretty much.

I think we lose 3 of 4 youngsters (Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, Randle) in order to get LeBron, Kawhi and PG

PG is likely coming and he’s coming knowing Kawhi is
In the tow for 2019.

John Ireland was ESPNLA today saying that no one on Charlotte liked Dwight. The players thought he was a cancer in the locker room.

So Mitch signed Moz again? Lol. For two 2nd round picks and cash. Guess Hornets are gonna tank hard then. Dwight had a decent to good year while Moz had many DNPs.

I think getting only Kawhi and LBJ but losing PG could end up worse than having the Big three... or PG and LBJ.

We could end up with Kawhi and LBJ... and a gutted core and no PG.

I suppose if keep Randle... and one of Ingram or Ball then it's not too bad... but still seems like a lot of risky movement going on behind the scenes.

You keep Randle in that scenario.

Randle
Room X
Lebron
Kawhi
Hart

That’s two top five players in the starting lineup with Randle.

LeBron isn't going to wait on the youth to develop, it was always going to be the case of the young players being traded for immediate help if LeBron comes here so he can beat the Warriors. Lonzo is probably going to be the only one that remains imo due to teams not wanting the LaVar drama with the rest of the young core getting traded. Probably means KCP is going to be back, which LeBron would essentialely pick KCP over Randle since they share the same agency, with Noel probably on the way as Randle's replacement. LeBron, Kawhi, PG, Lonzo, with Lopez and/or Noel, with ring chasing vet's off the bench can contend with the Warriors. Once Bron retires, and Kawhi & PG get older, if Lonzo develops into an All-Star, there will be more elite free agents that will flock to the Lakers thru FA or trades going forward as well.

Beating the Warriors isn’t a life goal for Lebron. Developing post play business opportunities and being around as his kids grow are life goals. Lebron has said he isn’t about titles anymore, not beating GS won’t eat at him.

can I get a link to where he said that

big if true

I believe he said that during the finals. He said family would play a big part in his free agency

These media folks jerking everyone around for click bait, mentions, etc.

I'd surmise the PG/LBJ to Lakers deal isn't fluid and something that's been in the works for a while.

Yeah, I think PG and the Lakers want to steer clear of any semblance of tampering. Both parties are being extra careful, but when July 1 comes around, I think we'll see how everyone is hearing how the Lakers have "suddenly and unexpectedly" become PG's preferred destination again. Right now, OKC is controlling the narrative, but that won't be the case once July rolls around.

George could come out and say he wants to go to the Lakers and there would be no tampering charges. He hasn’t said that because he will be negotiating.

Can he? Isn’t he technically still under contract with OKC until July 1?

Pretty sure players can say whatever they want whenever. Look at Kawhi. Doesn't mean they talked to the team that they want to go to

Yes, players can’t tamper. That is why there was nothing said when Hart said he tried recruiting him.

Better to use the space to take on salary for draft picks.

I think everyone is waiting for the KL domino to fall, then there will be a lot of trades happening once the Leonard shoe drops.

So around the trade deadline.

i always said a lineup of

ball
george - Hart
ingram - Kuzma
randle
jordan

this would be a great turn around and a 4-5 seed

then look into Klay or Leonard in 19

I don't think we'd have any cap space next summer if we signed both PG and DJ.

Dwight Howards antics continued; lead to his release from Charlotte/Atlanta

"I don't know what it is. No one has kind of gotten to the bottom of why. It can't just be the corny jokes -- and my god, does he tell the corniest jokes -- but I've heard multiple stories of Hawks players learning about the trade and screaming with jubilation into their phones.

"You ask why, and one account was that Dwight would give these speeches before the game about how everyone is playing hard, we want unity, we're going to… and then go out and play like a blah game where he demands post touches and doesn't rotate as hard as he could. And everyone is like, 'why are you speaking in the locker room?' But that's all anecdotal. It's just crazy how these stories come out after every stop in his career."

This team has been struck out in free agency and screwed by other owners for too long it seems. The fact Magic laid out this 2 max plan way too early had given other gms ample time to come up with game plans to block any move we plan to make. I’m just hoping the Lakers can finally break though and sign someone significant even just one. The first domino to fall is always the most difficult one, anything come after that will be icing on the cake.

New start! Marquee Free Agents coming in to play with our youngsters would raise the level of play all around, especially if the Free Agents bring defensive intensity!!
