On a serious note, would you want the Lakers to sign Dwight Howard at the vet minimum once he is bought out by the Nets? It is very likely he does not end up playing for them and seeks a buy-out. I can also imagine they are trying to tank the season since they haven't had their own lottery pick in forever! Dwight does not help their tanking cause.
So, for the vet min, would you sign Dwight Howard and forego Lopez? Dwight's averages from last season: 16.6ppg, 12.5rpg, 1.6bpg in 30.4mpg. Shot 55.5% from the field and 57% on FT's.
I think Lebron and Magic could talk him into a reconciliation. If on the flipside he ends up with the Warriors, that would give the clear edge to the Warriors in my opinion.
Assuming we sign Lebron, PG13 and trade Deng away with some expirings, here is what we could have going into the season:
C - Dwight/Mitch Robinson/T Bryant
F - Lebron/Randle/Frye
F - Ingram/Kuzma
G - PG13/Hart
G - Ball/Seth Curry
If the Spurs are willing to deal Kawhi to us for Ingram/Randle, all the better.
Obviously, the key for us is to make sure we deal Deng at all costs! |

Sources: Lakers warn staff about tampering ahead of free agency period
Quote: | The Los Angeles Lakers recently called an organizational meeting warning all employees about possible tampering ahead of a free agent signing period in which they are expected to play a key role with the ability to sign two superstars, sources with knowledge of the meeting told ESPN.
Lakers co-owner and governor Jeanie Buss called the meeting, which was led by President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson.
Sources said Johnson spoke to a large group of team employees, warning them about tampering.
Other employees received written notices on the matter that referenced possible termination as punishment for anyone who did not adhere to NBA rules. |

no way in hell do we want Howard again
he's been a locker room cancer the last 2-3 teams he's been with
We've got a team that's really close, all operating on the same page, and just don't need the Howard headaches anywhere near it _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

Brian Shaw has to wait a few weeks until his next fishing trip with Paul George. That last fishing trip cost them $500,000 |

I think we got someone. The Lakers are trying to make sure they don't screw it up and Silver voids any potential signings/trades we have.
OKC - to me - seems to be negotiating through the press. They know we can't respond due to tampering rules and they're using/abusing the rules to their advantage. I think they're hoping we be spooked - by all the PG has a change of heart rumours - and go after Kawhi instead.

this is great. It’s like mocking the league when everyone knows tampering is blatant. Well played Jeanie and Magic. |

Here's a bit of a surprise, and it may show how depressed that agents think the free agent market will be:

I wonder sometimes how reporters and other journalists feel when they know they are just being used as mouthpieces for whatever teams want to have put out there, whether it is true or not. You gotta report. But you also know, you are used as a pawn in the information game.
(not thinking any specific situation, just something that free agency and drafts seem to conjure up every year, across various sports). _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. We're going to put our universes together" - Metta World Peace |

Really surprised Dedmon picked up his option. I thought he easily would have gotten a long term deal at least at his current yearly rate. Anyways, Atlanta is looking better and better for any three team trade for Kawhi. |

FWIW I saw him at Disneyland a week ago. I wondered why he would choose to come to LA, but then I realized he’s probably not welcome in Disney World either (Orlando). _________________ GAME. BLOUSES. |

The Lakers have acquired the 39th pick in Thursday’s Draft from the 76ers, league source tells ESPN. Lakers will send Philly its 2019 second round pick via Bulls and cash. _________________ Tacos |
