Horrific news on Hayward. Just horrible.
Any video clip of this?
Steve Kyler has it on his Twitter. It's just awful. I feel freaking awful. It looks really bad, so if you're squeamish, don't look. His foot is basically not facing the correct direction.
The Celtics would be eligible to apply for the Disable Player Exception based on the Gordon Hayward injury. The exception would be worth $8.4M and Boston would have up until March 10 to use. The Celtics with an open roster spot can sign, claim or trade for a player that has one-year left on his contract.

Nevermind, sounds like a broken leg and not a broken kneecap......I know Livingston's career was on the verge of being over since amputation was a real possibility at the time.

Just saw the aftermath shot. It's not to the Kevin Ware level, but pretty bad. I'll never feel right about the term "breaking ankles" again.

Can they sign someone and trade them?
Smart likely moves into their starting lineup and that leaves them needed a guard off the bench, JC?
Boston not missing a beat without Hayward. Team looks scary. Jayson Tatum could be favorite to win ROY. Cavs look done. AARP team. I'm glad we didn't sign Rose.

It’s only 1 game and I haven’t watched it all but I got the same feeling on the cavs. They just look old and stale.

Rose and Wade are washed up. Wade is still ok. Lebron is literally carrying the team. He's just unstoppable as always. Jayson Tatum looks really good too for a rookie.

In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:
...For three months or until December 15 of that season (whichever is later) after signing a contract as a free agent or matching an offer sheet to a restricted free agent. This obviously does not apply to the trade completing a sign-and-trade transaction (see question number 92)...
DISABLED PLAYER EXCEPTION --
This exception allows a team which is over the cap to replace a disabled player who will be out for the remainder of that season (it can also be granted in the event of a player's death). This exception is granted by the league, based on an application from the team and a determination by an NBA-designated physician or Fitness to Play panel (see question number 62) that the player is substantially more likely than not to be unable to play through the following June 15.
If this exception is granted, the team can acquire one player via free agent signing, trade or waiver claim, to replace the disabled player:
* The team may sign a free agent for one season only, for 50% of the disabled player's salary or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.
* The team may trade for a player in the last season of his contract only (including any option years)2, who is making no more than 50% plus $100,000 of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception plus $100,000, whichever is less.
* The team may claim a player on waivers who is in the last season of his contract only (including any option years), who is making no more than 50% of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.
Teams can apply for this exception from July 1 through January 15, and cannot apply after January 15. Once granted, the exception expires when a player is acquired, when the disabled player is traded or returns to the team, or on March 10 of that season, whichever comes first. This exception is granted on a season-by-season basis -- if the player will also be out the following season, the team needs to apply for this exception again the following season.
Luke and Magic know the team has to win for any FA to take us serious or we are only gonna end up getting 3rd tiers like Avery Bradley and Monroe next summer, which will piss a lot of fans off, this team is rebuilding but they have to start winning, and play a exciting brand of basketball, fans think we have no chance at the playoffs but that can really damper our chances at doing anything significant next summer, our hope is that Lonzo Ball has a great year and others follow suit or like I mentioned we will only end up getting Avery Bradley and Greg Monroe for all the hype and purposes.
