Might be out for the rest of preseason. I'm hoping it's just being over cautious, but Lonzo still limping after more than a week is discouraging. |

I'm assuming he's out the rest of the preseason. It sucks, but he's gotta be ready for the opener. |

There are fans that are mad at Luke that Kuzma hasn't played in this game yet. |

Two games left for Ingram to show us something. Can't go into regular season playing like he has been so far. I know Luke and Magic is going to stick with Ingram as a starter so he will be given a lot of opportunities to succeed here. Utah will be the toughest team yet so lets see how it goes. _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024 |

I think he'll play the last preseason game, just to get him some run before the opener. Think they're just being cautious with him rn |

Man. Lakers finally hitting their 3s this game.
If they do this in the regular season, they'll be legit. |

Bogut was born OUT
I like Bogey and he’ll be good when he plays but like I said when he first got signed, he stays injured. _________________ #IStillBelieveTaurean |

watched Utah last night....Rubio looked really good...so did the rookies Donovan Mitchell and Tony Bradley. Also, seemed like Rodney Hood was playing with confidence again.
Going to be tough to get this win. |

No Lonzo. I expect Utah's defense is going to be tough for this team to handle. Well, maybe not for Kuzma, but for the 14 other players who aren't injured and could play tonight.
Can the Lakers play defense against this team? I would hope so. We'll see if players can pick up where they left off against Sacramento. |

good. That lineup was the best defense we've seen from our team in a long time.
Randle's brand of bully ball also worked well against the Kings 2nd unit
I was also getting a little tired of Luke's insistence on keeping units together instead of playing the guys that give you the best chance to win. This weeks "well, maybe we'll start Kuz - but I like the way he plays with the 2nd unit" quote sounded exactly like what we heard all last year
quit trying to make the 2nd string a super unit - let's start the 5 that are most effective together, which means experimenting with Kuz on the 1st string _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

I actually really like the paring of Nance and Lopez. It allows Lopez to be the focal point of the offense and improves our starting units defense.
Going forward, I think Luke recognizes that Randle may be best coming off the bench to improve his touches and it also significantly improves our bench units point production.
This move also maximizes Nance’s greatest strength - transition offense. This will give Ball someone he can run with and finish at the rim.
Starting with the teams best defensive setup also may prevent the team from getting into big holes early. |

It’s not necessarily about if Kuz starts, it’s whether or not he finishes games. I get that everyone is trying to make Kuz a 3, but forcing him to learn two positions early on isn’t ideal IMO.
A pairing of Lopez and Kuz in the front court will likely be bullied early on. Kuz is still pretty lean in the muscle department, not to mention green.
Luke is building the team around Lopez, which he’s correct to do. He needs to setup the rotations to maximize offensive and defensive production around him. When Lopez steps out to the 3 point line, we need someone that can guard the 5. I “think” at least that’s the logic behind Walton’s rotations. Nance can switch 1-5 which gives the team that flexibility. |

I agree we should look to maximize the output we can get from Lopez, but this doesn't make sense.
We don't want Lopez stepping out to the 3pt line on defense, just offense. Not to mention Nance has struggles with the size and strength of centers.
If this makes us a better team then so be it. |

I'm not one of those that is married to the idea of making Kuz a 3.
I think it would make the most sense to try Kuz in the 1st string lineup at both PF and SF - and the preseason was the time to experiment with that.
Let's see what the best starting 5 is by experimenting with alternative lineups, rather than what we saw last year of "keeping the 2nd unit together - at the expense of the starting 5." This appears to be what Luke is saying about Kuz this year (again).
Most coaches want to build the starting 5 from the people that make the best starting 5 - not build the 2nd unit at the expense of the starting 5.
we'll never know how Kuz would do in our starting lineup as either a starting PF or SF unless they try it. Preseason would have been the low risk time to try it
You're point about "When Lopez steps out to the 3 point line, we need someone that can guard the 5. " doesn't make much sense...
when Lopez steps out to the 3pt line, he's on offense. that doesn't affect who he's defending on the other end. So, I'm guess there's a different point here that wasn't articulated clearly and I'm missing it?? _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings
