finished off the trip-dub... 21 Points, 12 Rebounds and 10 Assists

And the Sixers get their 1st win of the year. He's going to be special.
Thought lack of 3P will hinder Simmos potential. But he might not even need it if he's going to be a better passing version of Giannis. _________________ Showtime 2.0

just do not like something about guys that have been with the team for a year or more, competing against guys that were in college a few months ago....they have a huge advantage as they have already made many adjustments to the NBA lifestyle.

I don't know if that really outweighs the disadvantage of needing to take a year off from competitive basketball to heal from an injury.

I'm not trying to downplay Simmons' last game...It was definitely a great game by him, but there were a ton of people who downplayed Lonzo's great game, saying that it was 'just' ONE game. Meanwhile, Simmons is basically crowned ROY after one game.

True. But it's probably because Simmons has started his career with four straight doubles-doubles, so the breakout game was seen as just a logical part of his steady progression.
Lonzo, in contrast, has been up and down. His breakout game was against the league's worst team (and worst defense), and he followed it with a 3-13 (and 0-5 from 3) game, though his assists and rebounds were good.
That said, I think both are going to be good players, and it's a long season. Simmons has a headstart but ultimately the guy who deserves it will win it.

Lonzos gonna catch heat all year long no matter what he does. It's part of being a Laker, and Lavar's son

Good point.
But I did see a few of Simmons' early games, and while the stats were Ok (i.e. double-doubles), what I saw didn't impress me that much. He didn't have much to his game...Basically drive and kick, a couple nice dimes, layups, maybe the occasional 8-foot jumper...

Simmons had a full year to watch film, be at the games, meet the players work with the staff.
Ball just stepped in and not with just any team.
I don't think people really know the weight of being playing for the Lakers.
I saw NOLA was selling a package of two tickets to the game comes with 4 beers and some food for like $200
You cant even get 1 preseason Laker ticket for less then $250
Eh. Simmons had a serious injury that required him to take almost a year off from competitive basketball; for me that equals out any advantage he had from meeting the staff and looking at film.
As far as Ball's pressure, that's life -- and he and his family are certainly adding to their own pressure unnecessarily, doing a reality show and such. And it's not like being a #1 overall pick in a town like Philly is pressure free.
Anyway, I'm not grading either on a curve. How they do is how they do. It's up to them.

Admittedly, he could have come back towards the end of last season, but decided to sit out the whole season so he could win ROY.
