Special type of new contract situation so that he can get him on our G-League team. Exhibit 10 clause in the contract we signed him. I think maybe he will be our second 2-way. |

this is silly....guy played less than 25 minutes (mostly in 4thQ) and was 3 of 7 from the field...just recycled and preconceived narrative. |

Feel bad for Blue, he has tried so hard and played so well in the D league. Oh well. Cool name too, reminds me of Vida Blue from the old days in baseball. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

Also FWIW, I really like Caruso as a backup. Dude is an assist machine and his shot has promise. I like a guy who can come in and dish, and he can. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

I was waiting to see if there were old schoolers who remember Vida Blue;
he used to play for the A's. There was one more Blue back then, Luther Blue, but he wasn't really a star. He played football w/Detroit I believe. |

So 15 guaranteed and Caruso 2-way so we still have 1 more 2-way? |

Yeah he was a good pitcher a while back. I was trying to think why the name "Vander Blue" sounded strangely familiar to me - mystery solved. |

You know what's silly??
Your presumption.
My perception of him is based on what's clearly observable.. a cumulation of his summer league play, as well as his brief appearances during the preseason. Don't build an argument around presumption buddy, it's a "silly" thing to do. |

Signing Wear was an act of good faith. The Lakers put 50K in his pocket so he'd stick around the G-League team knowing the Lakers are still quite interested in him going forward.
Signing him was a way for the Lakers to leash him up, sort of speak.
I just wish they'd done the same for Matt Thomas. |

I'm pretty sure they signed Bogut for next year. I don't think Bogut suits up this year unless the Lakers make trades.
Next year, when Lopez, Zubac, Randle, Deng, and Ingram are replaced with LBJ and Paul George, Bogut will be a great low-rent second string or third string backup center.
But this year, barring injury or trade, I'd be shocked to see him suit up. |

Yeah I can't disagree - these are aspects of his game that he needed to expand. I thought he was starting to late in Summer League but I didn't see it in preseason. |
There are worse players than him in the NBA though, so it still makes me wonder. |
There was no room for Blue right now. The team needs shooters.
If Clarkson is traded and the Lakers haven't found a shooter by then, I expect Blue to get a real hard look.
Unfortunately, his feelings have probably been hurt, so he'll abandon his Laker ties in favor of more money in a more obscure league, probably overseas. |

PG - Ball - Ennis - Caruso
SG - Pope - Clarkson
SF - Ingram - Brewer - Hart
PF - Nance - Kuzma - Deng
C - Lopez - Randle - Zubac - Bogut - Bryant
But I'd bench Lopez and Nance and experiment with a small, fast lineup with players who can all (reasonably) guard wings and switch all pick and rolls:
PG - Ball - Ennis - Caruso
SG - Hart - Clarkson
SF - Pope - Brewer
PF - Kuzma - Ingram - Nance
C - Deng - Randle- Lopez - Bogut - Zubac |

then its just wrong, because Blue clearly did not play that way in SL |

Kinda bummed about Vander Blue though.. I thought he was fantastic during the summer league. Just didn't show that in pre-season.
I'd gladly welcome him and Matt Thomas back on the summer league roster next year though lol |

Yeah Blue finally played the right way in the summer league. He showed other parts of him game outside of scoring. He just didn't get much run in the preseason for some reason. |
