The NBA season tips off tonight with a pair of games. The Golden State Warriors are heavy favorites to win the NBA title during the 2017-18 season with the latest odds at 5-12 on a Warriors repeat. The Warriors are the closest thing to a must-have ticket since Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were at their peak in the 1990s. So when the Warriors visit NBA cities around the country, fans are going to have to pay up on the secondary market if they want to see Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and the rest of the Golden State superteam.

The Warriors are part of eight of the ten most expensive games on the secondary market this season, including games in Los Angeles, Cleveland, New York and Oklahoma City. Four home games at the Oracle Arena also crack the top 10.
The priciest ticket of the NBA season arrives Dec. 18 when the Warriors play the Los Angeles Lakers and much-hyped rookie Lonzo Ball at the Staples Center. The minimum price to get into the arena right now is $526 on the secondary market, according to ticket reseller Vivid Seats. The median list price is a staggering $1,306 and twice as much as any other NBA game this season.

But fans are not paying up to see Ball or catch a glimpse of his brash father LaVar. Dec. 18 is all about another famous trash talker, Kobe Bryant, who will have both his jersey numbers, 8 and 24, retired in a halftime ceremony. The NBA’s third all-time leading scorer is the tenth Lakers player to be honored.
The Warrior and Cleveland Cavaliers have squared off in the NBA Finals the past three years and the league is showcasing their first matchup of the 2017-18 season with the marquee Christmas Day slot. It is the only trip for LeBron James to Oakland this year (at least until the 2018 Finals) and the median price is $653 with a minimum price of $264 on the secondary market. The Warriors lone trip to Cleveland is the fourth-priciest ducat this season at $535.

The Cavaliers versus the Boston Celtics on Feb. 11 is one of two non-Warriors games among the 10 most expensive per Vivid Seats. It ranks third with the median cost hovering close to $600. The game is a must-see for Celtics fans thanks to the Paul Pierce retirement ceremony. Pierce is the second-leading scorer in Boston history behind John Havlicek.
The Warriors’ open the season tonight at home against the Houston Rockets where they will receive their rings for winning the 2017 NBA title. The game ranks as the fifth costliest ticket at $413.
