2017 Home Opener: Excitement Elevated or Tempered?

While I fully plan on watching our team today, and am still looking forward to it, I'm finding my excitement level isn't where it was prior to SPL and prior to the preseason. Perhaps, for me, that is because during SPL, it was the thrill of the shiny new object(s) on display.

And coming in to the preseason, we had just completed a successful SPL.

But overall, I found the preseason to be lackluster for our boys and it doesn't feel like we're starting off the regular season coming off much positive momentum. I now find I am not quite as excited about tonight as I thought I'd be relative to SPL and preseason. Maybe part of it that because of preseason, I feel like our ceiling has lowered some and I'm almost waiting for an implosion rather than an explosion.

What about you? Are you more excited than ever for the game tonight? Or do you, like me, find yourself a little more subdued than you were over the summer?

I'm excited about the season. Definitely a much more optimistic expectations then you seem to be having. I would say "looking for the explosion rather then the implosion". There is a delusional fan in me that continues to think they might just surprise some people this year. Including Laker fans.

I am coming from a different point of view though. I tend to not put a lot of importance into the off-season or pre-season. Fun to watch and discuss but far from the finished product of the regular season, good or bad.

I also am looking at this season as another developmental year. Expecting this "work in progress" team to have good and bad nights overall as some players struggle at times or as they attempt to build some type of team chemistry.

I tend to be focusing on the what optimistically might be or potential of the team until they prove to me otherwise. It's game one, time to prove it on the court. Can't wait to see how this team this season delivers. Go Lakers!!

I am really excited about individual players but I don't really believe in the collective for this group

SPL was the high. Didn't see enough Lonzo in the pre-season. BI got better as it went on but didn't live up to the Maglinka hype. Lost a little faith in Luke. Not excited about the lineup decisions.

Still excited, but less. Go Lakers!

I'm very excited still but admittedly, its been tempered a bit because of Luke's slow reveal of how incompetent he actually is. As he might just repeat the same mistakes he did last season with screwing around minutes, rotations, hockey subs, etc.

I just want to see logical decision making with managing the players minutes and rotations this season, and I'll be satisfied with whatever the outcome is.

BI showed no drastic improvements, if any. Luke talking about Rookie minutes research, talking about how Lonzo "needs a lot of coaching." Seems like they want us to be tempered too after a summer of sales pitching by Magic.

Less, I expect us to get blown out. If we were playing a crap team like Phoenix, I would be more excited.

My expectations for the season are diminished. However, I watched only a small bit of the preseason. I plan to watch most of the game tonight. This will be the first time I’ve taken a hard look at the reconstructed lineup.

I was hoping to see something like I saw in the Summer league, but I got back down to reality watching some pre season games. I realize the talent is still not there, the defense is still pretty crappy, and that the Lakers most likely lose a lot of games and not make the playoffs. Just don't have the confidence that much has changed, from a year ago. Until this team gets a true star player it's the same waiting game for us Laker fans.
