Quote:
Fats Domino, the piano-playing prodigy whose lightning-fast fingers crafted a rollicking sound blending rock with rhythm-and-blues, has died, the Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office in Louisiana said Wednesday.

He was 89.

Same here. I think there was another rock legend from the 50s who passed away earlier this year and we talked about which ones were still alive. I recall Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis' name but I don't recall Fats Domino.

Add me to the list. Danced a lot of Be Bop to Fats music.

Chuck Berry was the other who died this year. Iirc, a few people had the same reaction. Chuck Berry was still aLIVE?! That was the chain smoke and heavy drink era. Kudos to any musician from that era who made it all the way to the 2010s. A lot of transpo deaths, too. Ritchie Valens didn't make it past age 17.

Damn. Had the chance to play some of his music on the piano. Musical genius. RIP.

My wife and both said that to each other this morning. Sadly, it will soon be true for all of the legends of the birth of American music.
