Updated as of last night. Holding steady at 4th in D.... even improved our defensive efficiency slightly.

Looking through hustle stats now, and a big factor in the Lakers' defensive success might be their contests. They rank 1st in the league in contested twos per game, and fourth in threes

I love it.
Pet peeve is when guys don't contest.
Or play defense with their hands down and then try to contest at the last second.
Makes me wanna scream Randle

But love that the team is #1 on contests.

Our guys need to do a better job of helping the helper in this case. Block out Lopez's man and cut down those second chance points.

As expected, after tonight we are 8th in defensive efficiency, still 28th in offense but I think the numbers are up (100.0)...

It looks like they'll stay in that range. I thought the upcoming games against teams like Houston and Golden State might hurt the defensive rating but even Klay and Curry were shooting airballs on open threes I still can't explain how they do it but they ensure that no one gets in a groove offensively.

Other than opening night and maybe the Kings game, no team has been able to get hot against the Lakers defense. Even the top teams in the league have several nights where another team just went off on them.

Stay top 10 in drtg and bring ortg to top 15 by end of the season by reducing TOs and I'll say the season was a massive success. Of course bringing the ortg to top 15 would very difficult. Will need to improve TOs, FTs, and 3s. And I think the Lakers will after the the new year. Especially after THE trade.

you're finally on board with trading our least productive offensive player?

We are giving up 109.3 per game good for 26th in the league
We are scoring 105.8 per good for 14th in the league

One could imply the problems lie outside of scoring. Turnovers, rebounding, 3 point shooting, clutch defense, free throws. Basically we are finding ways to lose.

LOL. Naw, I actually think he'll improve by the new year.
Which will help our ortg.

Magic is probably most likely to break the long time coming Okafor trade even if it’s not to the lakers

#8 in defensive efficiency, #28 offensive efficiency.

Defense slipped a bit recently but it showed up again last night.

Turnovers, free throw shooting and 3 pt shooting, get to league average I think we'd be playoff bound.

KCP has found his 3 pt stroke - he's gone from liability to asset from 3 point range real fast. 36.8% from 3. Great to see him find his shot.

Clarkson 37.1%, Kuzma now 36.5%, very good.

Lopez 30.7%, Ingram at 31.7%. On the surface kind of a problem but one good game away from respectability.

Lonzo Ball - 24.6% on 4.7 attempts from 3 per game. He does so many things well. Scoring isn't one of them and should be. He needs to find the accuracy he had in college and I think he will sooner or later.

Turnovers appear to be more unforced, we're only average in having the ball stolen from us, not league worst.

Free throw shooting - how can a whole team be bad at this? Particularly Ingram, Randle, Ball, and to a lesser extent KCP.

Lonzo - 47% ft shooting - just no excuse. Kobe's right. Improve now.

Season ratings :

Off Rating : 100.2 (28th)
Def Rating : 102.9 (9th)
Net Rating : -2.7 (22nd)

Last 10 games :

Off Rating : 104.1 (22nd)
Def Rating : 107.1 (18th)
Net Rating : -3.0 (18th)

So our last 10 games, our offense is much better, would be top 20 for the season, but it seems like we abandonned our defense (or teams are starting to understand how to attack us ?) which would be bottom 10 for the season...
