I think they're trying to say, the more minutes you play as a starter, the less effective you are in the 4th, since you're tired.

So our last 10 games, our offense is much better, would be top 20 for the season, but it seems like we abandonned our defense (or teams are starting to understand how to attack us ?) which would be bottom 10 for the season...

Seems reasonable.

We got worse on defense, better on offfense, so it seems like we're keeping the same trajectory. I think we can definitly target around the 20th place on offense, defensively I have little hope we can stay top 10...

Qhemm... Kobe, Michael, Scotty, LeBron and some more might disagree.
But sure, they are outliers anyway.

Tough opponents lately, season long defensive ranking is still top 10 but the consistency isn't there now. Good against GS, not so in the previous 2 games.

Turnovers slowly trending better, still 29th. Seeing lots of 11 to 16 turnover games lately, not 20+.

Free throws - Ingram, Randle, Nance need to get better. All in the mid-60's. Randle and Ingram in particular draw a lot of fouls. Average free throw shooting from BI would have meant Lakers by 2 over GS last night.

Also our starting point guard is almost but not quite as good a free throw shooter as Dwight Howard or DeAndre Jordan. Statistically you'd still send one of those two centers to the line. They can top 50%.

Three point shooting still 30th, but improving rather fast now.

Last 10 games - Lonzo Ball is hitting 35.3% from 3. Start of a trend?

Kuzma is dangerous from outside now. Which means he's now dangerous from everywhere. Leads the team in scoring, 38% from 3, 49.7% overall, yeah I'll take that from a rookie.

Still last in FT% and 3P%, but in the last 10 games we are 35.8 3P%, still average but much better, let's hope we can keep getting better...

Everyone should keep in mind that our last 10 games were:
GSW (2x), Rockets (2x), Cavs, Clips, Nuggets, 76'rs, Hornets, and Knicks

that's 7 games against teams that are currently in the playoffs, and 5 of those were against the best 2 teams in the west and the Cavs.
And, another was a game against the 76'rs, who were one of the hottest teams going at that specific time frame - and probably will be again once Embid returns from his back soreness.

It's pretty much expected that our Def Rating would slip considering who we were playing the last 10 games

A few more stats, and as stated above, against strong teams in a rather tough stretch of games.

Last 10 games:

Laker 3 point FG% - 36.7% - at or slightly above league average. The Lakers are actually turning his around rather impressively. Kuzma over 40% now. Ingram, KCP, Clarkson and Hart can all hit 3's at a reasonable mid-30's clip now as well.

Turnovers - 15.5 - still kind of poor but improving, averaging 14 over the last 5. Clearly getting better as one would expect from rookies as they learn.

Laker Free Throws - 67.4% - no improvement. Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle shoot a lot of FT's and this reflects their accuracy.

I't almost been that way since the begining of the season, unless there's a trade, I think this team is too inconsistent to expect a big jump offensively...
Still happy that we stay solid defensively...

Lakers are still number one in points in the paint, and second in the league in fast break points per game.

Last night was lackluster for turnovers and three point shooting, but the team is improving to league average the last 10 games in both categories.

Free throw shooting - no improvement yet. Still dead last, spotting teams several points per game.

Team has been around league average offensively (cant say for sure, but it would appear that mostly relates to Lonzo finding his stroke and kuzma very hot, as im not seeing any other sea changes) in the last dozen or so games (prior to last night) but has been below league average defensively in that stretch

Just imagine if we completed those fast break opportunities.
We give away so many points.

Yep. This is why I feel good about the young guys we have, get them some more experience and we'll be doing just that.

So glad there's been a team worse than us on defense. Wish we played them.

The foot traffic at the Laker sick bay door in those past ten games (Brook out for two weeks, Lonzo out ten days, Larry back in action, Kuzma reduced by injury) explains enough of the period's net ranking drops to me. With Kuz hurt now, the coaching staff will be challenged to find ways to reinvigorate the offense quickly, even with the returns of Lonzo and Brook.

Injury season arrived right on schedule in mid-December, and took the progress we were making on 3 pt shooting and turnovers way down south. The Laker defense left on the same train. Abysmal lately.
