I'm doubtful of the Machado trade because LA is always "supposed to" get big names and never does. The last big name was who, A-Gon and that was Boston dumping salary on us.
I'd be happy if we did but we need pitching most of all. |

Wasn't Yu Darvish a big name? |

It does sound like Dodgers are getting Machado. Not sure how I feel about that. Paying so much for a rental?
Besides, Dodgers made it important to get under the luxury tax level this offseason. Getting under the luxury tax I think drove to trading for Yu instead of Verlander. Verlander had 2-3yrs left where as Yu was expiring. That decision cost them the Series.
This last offseason they chose not to resign Morrow who the Dodgers could really use to ease the load of the heavily used Jansen.
Finally, they had a shot to trade for Stanton who instead went to the hated Yankee's. Dodgers offer was based on keeping under the luxury tax.
Dodgers avoided Verlander/Morrow/Stanton because of their long term contract commitments. Now they are willing to go over the luxury tax to rent Machado for 3 months? |

I love it. Let’s keep making the Philly fans salty because we keep blocking them from getting stars. First Lebron and now let’s make it Machado. |

Yes. It's going to be a great match up. Current Dodger vs Future Dodger? |
Please just say no to Harper |

No, they are still trying to stay under the luxury tax line. I think they are going to send out salary i.e. Forsythe to stay under the luxury tax. I think that's why they have to give up better prospects.
Re: Morrow - I think the big miss was not re-signing Tony Watson. He's been really good for SF. 3 yrs $9 mil guaranteed |

Interesting. A couple outlets report LAD, but ESPN cites an MLB article that suggests Philly is the landing spot. God I hope we resign him too . . . I understand the luxury tax but also (bleep) it? When you're this close to a title, you just need to go all in. Get Manny, keep Manny. We need him if we want Seager to be productive long term -- I think he'd be fine at 2b or 3b, but asking him to stay at SS is asking him to tear that UCL again |

I'm glad we're not standing pat and going after Machado. I was afraid the Diamondbacks would swoop in and grab him like they got JD Martinez last year and make it that much harder for us to wrestle the division from them.
Hopefully he'll have a better impact than Darvish did last year. (He should)
Now let's convince the Mets to let go of deGrom. _________________ |

An inanimate object would have had more of a positive impact on the Dodgers than Darvish did last year. |

Yes. Let's get them both. DeGrom and Noah please. Empty the farm. IDGAF about prospects I want a ring. We got the ones we needed and I trust them to refurbish it quickly |

Nightengale isn't the most reliable reporter in the world, so I'm taking what he says with a huge grain of salt. That said, we've clearly been involved in these talks, so it could happen. |

Is this really only going to be a rental with hopes to win it all win Manny before he leaves for more money? |

Best pre-game picture: Dodgers All-Star outfielder Matt Kemp giving a huge hug to future teammate Manny Machado, who will become an official member of the #Dodgers tomorrow, barring any last-second snag. |

Most likely, yes, although I do suspect the Dodgers will make a serious effort to re-sign him if he shows well for the rest of the year. We're clearly going to be in play for a major free agent this winter, and I've said all along that I like Machado more than Bryce Harper. The Phillies have former Orioles execs in their FO though, they'll have the money, and the need, so I'd peg them as the favorites. You can never rule out the Yankees, I suppose, and other teams will be in play as well. |

Machado is pretty much a done deal and from what I read the trade only includes prospects. One name I heard that could be in the deal is top OF prospect Yusniel Diaz. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

I would be okay with the rental and him leaving for another team next year if we win the WS this year. |
