^One could argue the Red Sox played the Yankees a bunch of times which made the schedule tougher. And the Red Sox slowed down in September while the Dodgers needed to win just to make the playoffs. That’s true, but the Red Sox also played the Baltimore Orioles a bunch of times and dominated that team.

I really think you throw record out the window when you have gotten this far and when you're talking about a short series where so many players have a say in the outcome. This isn't the NBA, where 1 guy has such a monumental impact. The Dodgers should have been a 100+ win team this season according to the Pythagorean W-L, so it's not like it's a juggernaut Red Sox team against a scrappy, outmanned Dodger squad.

I will predict the LOS ANGELES DODGERS in 7 games. They stress us to the end, but get it done this time.....

Its about matchups between the two teams at this point. The regular season record is meaningless since they played other teams who are no longer in the conversation.

The public is all over the Red Sox. They've been bet up to -160 now. They are -140 for Game 1. I actually like this for the Dodgers. They haven't been in the position of being underdogs since, well, 2016.

LA can match Boston’s top end talent, and in my opinion have a stronger starting five. If Kershaw pitches like Kershaw LA will be fine.

It really matters what the Red Sox get from Sale and Price. sale has not been the same since coming off the DL and didn't pitch his last start due to mysterious illness. Price has been historically horrible in the playoffs but was great his last start. Eovaldi and Porchella have been up and down. I give them dodgers the edge in starting pitching hitting and defense goes to the Sox but the dodgers can and will hit as well. I think the bullpen will prove to be the dodger strength as Joe Kelly and especially Kimbrel have been shaky as hell lately. The Dodgers seemed to have turned the corner with the bullpen with Baez Jansen Floro and Madson getting decent efforts. I think you will see some runs scored this series and the Dodgers have a decent chance. But I agree with Big Papi. Roberts has to start Puig every game.

The media hyping up the hate between Machado and Red Sox. I like it. This is going to be a wild series. I am so excited about this series that I really don't care for the 0-3 start the Lakers are having. LOL.

Scott Alexander replaces Caleb Ferguson on the World Series roster. Ferguson was really good in the NLDS and NLCS, but seems like they're hoping Alexander can help induce groundballs against Boston's lineup in the spots we need him to. Looks like Urias will retain his role in the bullpen into the World Series.

Its amazing how one sided pundits and casual fans think this series is. Record doesnt tell the story at all. These teams are almost evenly matched by every metric except record.

Don’t like that lineup, Machado has no protection, Red Sox just gonna pitch around him every time. Bellinger finally broken through and you sit him just because a lefty is on the mound?

I don't like the Bellinger benching or the fact that Puig is #8 in the order. but hey, Dave does a lot of questionable stuff and it works more often than not.

Bellinger slashed .226/.305/.376/.681 against lefties in the regular season and hit .122 in the NL Playoffs--don't know the splits. Puig is hitting 8th as he (against the odds) doesn't hit lefties well either--209/.268/.360/.628.

Why is Dozier leading off? A leadoff hitter that doesn’t get on base?

Yeah I know he's not great against lefties, and that explains the benching since Roberts/FO is all about numbers but man, he was the NLCS MVP and is heating up. Plus his defense. I'd rather him start and bench Dozier or Kike. Hoping Dozier earns the start.

After looking at how the Dodgers hit lefties, questions indeed. The question about Machado with Taylor batting behind him, especially when there is a Matt Kemp, is particularly fitting. I would expect the team would have more advanced stats such as how do these guys hit the tougher pitchers as opposed to the weaker ones, and maybe Taylor is better than Kemp here. I don't know why Dozier is leading off--unless management wants their guy in there.

1.000 Dennis Santana
0.464 David Freese
0.462 Hyun-Jin Ryu
0.400 Clayton Kershaw
0.336 Justin Turner
0.318 Manny Machado
0.273 Matt Kemp
0.260 Enrique Hernandez
0.256 Kyle Farmer
0.255 Max Muncy
0.250 Breyvic Valera
0.246 Austin Barnes
0.232 Chris Taylor
0.231 Corey Seager
0.231 Walker Buehler
0.226 Cody Bellinger
0.222 Tim Locastro
0.222 Alex Verdugo
0.209 Yasiel Puig
0.206 Yasmani Grandal
0.176 Logan Forsythe
0.170 Joc Pederson
0.167 Andrew Toles
0.152 Brian Dozier
0.143 Chase Utley
0.071 Kenta Maeda
0.056 Rich Hill
0 Daniel Hudson
0 Rocky Gale
0 Scott Alexander

Then again, if you went solely by this, Ryu and Kershaw should be in the lineup.

Dozier makes some sense. Good historically v Sale, saw him a lot when he was on the Twins (and Sale on the White Sox). Don't mind Freese but Taylor and Kemp should switch imo

Since you mentioned it, I found that Dozier slashed .255/.300/.532/.832 against Sale. Then again, that was when he could hit.

I’m still skeptical too, but it has some logic and I guess we will see tonight what that is worth.
