Damn... Arrieta to the Phils 3yrs/75m

Guess he's satisfied with his one ring rather than competing for several with the Azul.

Boras doing work. Arrieta gets paid. Will eventually be traded to a contender anyways.

The Phillies aren't as far off as many think. They could contend for a Wild Card spot as soon as this season, and if not this year, then next. Arrieta also has an opt-out after next season, and he gets $55MM of the $75MM in the first two years of the deal. If the Phillies are not contending next season and if he's pitching well, I would expect them to deal him.

By the way, good call, Snipes, you were right about the multi-year deal still.

Thanks. Only because he has been trying to get paid ever since that crazy CY young year. Problem is he isn't even close to being that guy anymore and he knows it. Gotta take the money! I would too. 1 year deal for him would be too risky..I'm sure Boras was in his ear not to do that even if Jake wanted to.

And I agree..the Phillies are young..fast and good. I thought they took a few steps back last year actually but I do have high hopes for them.

(bleep) horrible. Look at Freeman and countless others who were never the same after they came back that season from a broken wrist.

It blows no doubt but the silver lining on JT's injury is that it happened on his glove side and not his dominant wrist as was the case with FF last year. Hope for the best though tomorrow as JT visits a hand specialist who'll determine the recovery time.

It's the curse the A's gave us for 1988. They dumped Zaidi on us, along with ludicrously injury prone and expensive pitchers, and take out JT.

So Forsythe at 3rd and Chase/Kiki/Barnes will share the 2b duties. Could be worse. Hopefully he's back by mid May.

Farmer just got his opportunity...backup 3b and c if Barnes plays some 2b.

Just want our boys full strength for the epic showdown rematch against the Stros in early August....gotta take that 3 game set at the Ravine to get some of that bitter taste out from our collective mouths.

For the interim, looks as though Doc will roll with...

CT3, cf
Saeger, ss
Bellinger, 1b
Kemp, LF
Puig, RF
Kike/Utley, 2b
Forsythe/Farmer 3b
Barnes/Grandal, c

Hopefully Farmer is our latest "come out of nowhere" player and shows out as a stud with some regular PT.

Ryu had bad outings in previous games but he looked like he had some decent command. Today he is doing pretty good. Hopefully we get the pre-surgery Ryu back. We really need him.

His WHIP and FIP were too high last season, but if he could somehow match his 3.77 ERA from a season ago, I'm sure the Dodgers would take it.

Wow, MadBum will miss at least 6 to 8 weeks for the Giants with an injured finger. I feel like that's a light estimate, also.

People on LG talk about how it would be hard to root for LeBron if he became a Laker. Well, for me, ratchet that up a thousand fold if MadBum ever became a Dodger.

I have great respect for his bulldog mentality and ability to step up. Everything else, not so much... especially his latent racism when he's picking fights with Hispanic players.

I guess being a Dodger fan, I see Kershaw's emotion directed towards himself and his team. With Bum, it seems like more of that emotion is directed at the opposing team. So CK is a competitor, and MB is a douche-nozzle? Probably team loyalty plays into this; of course I am happy he is out 2-3 months.

There are many athletes i dislike because of the team they play for but as a person i have no problem. I dislike this guy period.

Braves release Scott Kazmir, the albatross gift that keeps on giving. Maybe this FO would like to sign him with the vacancy Turner has given us. I think a 3 year, $48 mil deal ought to do the trick again.....

How about the Lakers trade Deng to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp?

That would not work. Deng did not play for the Rays, A's and Kemp can hit the long ball.

I'm glad to see Matt Kemp playing so well and looking to have a potentially big rebounding year. It'd be nice to finally see some sort of return from the garbage signings that were McCarthy and Kazmir.

Which is more garbage? Deng/moz or Mccarthy/kazmir?
