I don't think there is any weight in Ramona's piece (Trade Deng with one of BI/Kuz/Randle). If the FO wants to trade Deng, they would have played him when Nance went down.
But I agree, may be Randle is the odd man out as AFireInside619 wrote above: The Lakers might not want to re-sign JR next year |

Not really a Randle guy.. I've always been on the fence with him. With that being said he seems to be turning the corner. He's not entirely where most of us would like him to be but he's showing signs.
Not so sure it's a good idea to trade him in order to shed salary. Unless something of equal value was coming back. And I doubt it would be. |

Kuzma and Ingram are not going to be moved. Magic and Pelinka want to put their own stamp on this team and Kuzma was their major steal and, fair or not, they are going too get credit for developing Ingram. Lonzo/Kuz/BI are this new regime's guys. I would think Nance and Hart would also prefer to be kept around seeing as they fit the "DNA" of the types of culture they are trying to build-- hard workers, gritty, defense first, high IQ, etc.
Randle, on the other hand, seems like the odd guy out due to his contract situation. LeBron + either PG or DMC means no cap space for Julius. DMC + PG and clearing Deng and JC for nothing would allow us to keep Julius.
Going to be interesting to see what happens but a buyout is not an option-- you don't buy out 3 years left on an albatross. |

What happens to Deng's cap number if he's bought out? |

I can't really imagine why a team would take on Deng. They would have to really covet Randle and be willing to pay whatever the market is next year. So much money. |

The picks would be 2019 and 2021 i believe.
They'd be in the 20's. _________________ 24 |

Agree.
Thats why I think it'll take 2-3 first round picks.
Especially considering 2019, 2021, 2023 none of our picks will probably be slated to be that great anyways. _________________ 24 |

At this point I'd rather not lose anyone. Hopefully dump Deng plus cash or future 2nd round pick and take on someone in their last year. |
Lakers give up Kuz in a salary dump and I can't see Staples Center standing without being engulfed in flames.
Just agree to a buy out and be done with it. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."

True but after the fiasco of trading conditional 1st round picks for Steve Nash, I’d hope the front office has learned from past mistakes. You never know how big name guys will mesh together as we found out.
I’d hope we do a better job of keeping our young 1st round picks now as insurance in case our big name gets turn out to be a disaster _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

How does that work? Say he takes 40% of his contract (I have no idea what's normal). Which part of the original salary number counts against the cap? |

Well, making the assumption that he takes a 40% straight across the board hit, the salary for this year would count fully against the cap this year, and then the last two years would be spread over 5 at the reduced rate, so roughly 4.4 mil per year, saving about 3 mil a year in cap room. _________________ “We must always take sides. Thanks, Omar. You're my favorite television character ever. I met Bubbles once. He's probably second |

Okafor has value.. Deng has negative value. I can't see the Sixers making that deal. |
