It's a joke based on a comment in the Ingram thread, where some dude implied that I'm hard on Ingram because I'm upset about the Russell trade. |

Ah lol. I was expecting Russell to have numbers comparable to last year (where he was positive for much of the year, until we started tanking) after seeing your post |

I thought so too.
Then I realized his RPM last year was lower. |

Wow what a difference a few games make for a players RPM. To have a huge change in such a short time makes me wonder how reliable rpm is this early in the season. (Rank by position)
Lopez 1.59(7)
Nance .55(25)
Julius -.03(35)
Bogut -.17(33)
Clarkson -.46 (29)
Pope -.77(28)
--------------------- -Dlo -1.38(53)
Kuzma -1.45(74)
CB -1.99(77)
BI -2.10(79)
Ball -2.55(77)
Bigs are favored more by drpm so bigs natural have higher RPMs thats why have the ranking for their positions also |

I see what the RPM says but I don't buy it completely for Kuzma and Ingram. For Ingram other than that 3 game road trip stretch where he sucked, he's been very good. He's been making the correct plays majority of the time, playing within himself, and playing solid D. The RPM numbers show me that he hasn't been one of our better players which the eye test disagrees with. Same with Kuzma.
These numbers are good to mix in with actual watching of the film. I think Kuzma and Ingram have both been better this season on the whole than what the RPM numbers say. |

That’s true of all stats this early in the season. RPM isn’t some talismanic stat that tells us who is good and who is bad. It just tells us how productive someone has been up to this point. |

Few 3's, made FT's, rebounds, and assists, plus turnovers. That's why Ingram is so low. |

I get why his RPM is low but I see a lot of people using that as a way to brush off Ingram as a bad player when that's not the case. Minus that 3 game stretch, he's been very good this season and is progressing nicely. |

There’s an old saying about people who use stats like a drunk uses a lamp post: for support, not illumination. We’re all guilty of that at times. |

fwiw bigs are favored by drpm but I think the opposite is true, to a smaller extent, for guards (favored in orpm).
It is still true that RPM overall favors bigs though.
Also these fluctuations are why you should ignore RPM until at least January... just not enough games. |

KCP I get because as much as people hate him, he's a far more dynamic scorer and even shooter than the likes of Hart and Caruso. Lopez is a no brainer with his prior.
Brewer is puzzling at first glance. #59 out of 88 in ORPM? In this case, I think his ORPM gets a boost from Ingram's ISO tendencies, and the fact that we don't have any other 3s. The Lakers score only 0.4 points per 100 possession fewer (well within error) with Brewer off the court vs. on it, so I guess ORPM deduced that Brewer isn't the reason our offense is so mediocre. Of course in reality, Brewer is awful. He just doesn't ball stop a la Ingram and keeps his usage fairly low so the lineup data is somewhat deceiving. |

Up though November, I thought Lopez was the team mvp, primarily for his impact on the defensive end. But his play really fell apart. |

Yeah his RPM is dropping like an anchor. +2.77 a month and a half ago. +0.48 now. |
