As the season moves forward I'm losing confidence in Luke. He seems to be one of those coach's that's only good for motivational speeches. |

EMbiid, Randle came into the league with broken jumper.
Embed played 33 games in 3 years and spent more time on injury reports but worked on his jumper.
Randle still here trying to get in shape and still bulldozing people under the basket

Seriously not understanding why we guarded Simmons out all the way to the 3 point line all night. Made no damn sense. |
I agree, but when given too much space he gets a head of steam and is pretty difficult to stop. |

Finally a game where Bogut played well and Luke could justify his decision to find him minutes. And he sits him the end of the game when Embiid checks in. He clearly was the Lakers best shot at defending him.
It almost felt like Luke wanted to embarrass Randle. A undersized big with short arms against a 7 foot beast. They didn't even double till very late. I am not saying anyone can stop Embiid but clearly that should have been Bogut's assignment. If not then why is he even here? |

This is a star driven league. The Lakers are bust driven as we lose YET ANOTHER close game as we look at a HORRENDOUS shooting stat line from Lonzo.
Choices have to be made starting now.
Do we want to WIN GAMES or do we want to keep forcing a bust into the starting line up just to save the management's face?
Because, honestly, keeping Lonzo as a starter or even having major minutes playing like this isn't healthy for anyone.
The players will start to get fed up with the preferential treatment and will begin to balme the L's on Lonzo thus poisoning the locker room.
Fans will soon bouh Lonzo as it's absolutely insupportable to watch him play.
Losing games because of consecutive comical displays of Shooting (and passivity)by Lonzo will also hinder our image as free agents do not want to be part of a circus.
In other words, we have a bust on our hands. Most top picks are balling out. Lonzo is sinking the Lakers as his lack of NBA basketball ability is roaring loud.
If i am the Lakers i'am trading him ASAP. |
You're so annoying |

As were Lopez and Bogut |
Bogut was at least respectable against Embiid on some possessions.
|
yeah, Durant could miss two shots in about 5 minutes defended by Ingram too, doesn't mean he wouldn't be about to get 30 on him.
I doubt Bogut would have been able to keep up with Embiid in the long run, and obviously so did Luke. You can't ask Bogut to do that on extended minutes anymore anyway. |
yea i know Embiid is a special player which is why he went off against supposed great defensive player Deandre Jordan.
all I'm saying is that was some pathetic post defense. |
You don't stop a dominant post center with one guy, you stop them with smart double teams.
Randle did about as much as you could do against Embiid in the post without consistent help or a double team strategy and THAT is upon Luke to come up with or scheme for. But the way we played tonight it's as if Luke didn't have a single plan on how to defend Embiid, nor did he put one in place. His plan was hoping the talent would bail out the lack of a plan.
That was the biggest problem tonight if any. Not that Luke failed to make any real adjustments on Embiid, but the way we played insinuated that we didn't even have a plan for the guy.
That and Luke admitting to not watching much film of the guy in yesterdays practice outside of highlights on Sportscenter(correct me if I misheard that). And you have the recipe for disaster. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Come on now, BI showed up too. In fact he would have had a better game if not for the selfishness of JC/JR. |

Because the rest of the team shot so well right? |
Yeah, Ingram and Kuz carried the load tonite. But it wasn't enough so they needed either Lonzo or someone else to step up in order to take the game. |
"Someone else." Why are we expecting our rookie pass first point guard to take over games? _________________ The most important shot in basketball. |

Being able to actually train your body without an off-season of injuries and setbacks to NBA shape and play consistent minutes to stay there, helps a lot. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Paul George or LEBRON would obviously be great but Iām really hoping we get DEMARCUS COUSINS.
Watching Embiid tonight is why. _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

Can't really fault Randle for being manhandled by Embiid in the 4th, but JR's offensive repertoire is zero. He doesn't have the finesse required to finish in traffic and he's not a threat beyond 5-ft. At best, he's a sixth man on a borderline playoff team...really hope the team looks elsewhere at the trade deadline or in the off-season. |

Whenever we see Lopez starting a game on the perimeter instead of getting going in the post, count on it being a night Luke has no idea how to utilize him.
Did Lopez get many if any post touches tonight? I was kind of and kind of not watching the game, had other stuff to work on. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
