i really was not a fan of his while at duke but he does have that single NBA skill that might keep him in the league as a specialist role player. if he can consistently hit open shots and defend reasonably he's a good pick at 47.

Not a fan of his game either, but I think Duke severely limited his abilities similarly to Booker. All of the emphasis went to Grayson, WCJ, and Bagley.

At scrimmage, a lot more PnR BH, pull up shots; Booker playtypes. I mean, he can shoot. Even if he can't defend, that gets an NBA career.

I don't think a Booker comp does Trent any favors haha

DiVincenzo also apparently leaning towards going back to school. I understand Porter going back, but how much more hype is a 22-year-old DiVincenzo going to get in another wing heavy draft?

I don't see the benefit, when either guy is practically a 1st round lock.

Assuming they have long NBA careers, I don't think they're thinking about the opportunity cost of being an extra year younger before that 2nd/3rd contract.

I'm extremely in on Mitchell if he passes the Lakers interview. Simple as that.

where'd you see that? The info I saw was that he's leaning towards staying in draft following a ton of good feedback from teams at combine, but Spellman is leaning towards returning to school.

From the same Ringer article:
Quote:
Villanova guard Donte DiVincenzo is expected by most executives I spoke with to return to Villanova despite a strong showing in Chicago. DiVincenzo impressed with his energetic defense and shotmaking off the dribble. Though it’s not inconceivable he’d get drafted in the first round, a return to school could lead to a rise similar to that of teammate Mikal Bridges this season.

At least for Porter the 2019 draft looks very shallow at center and he'd still only be 19 years old. DiVincenzo going back to school at his age with his current momentum would be flabbergasting. Villanova isn't winning the title next year.

thanks. surprised by that, I think DDV is a surefire 1st rounder at the moment. Can't imagine his draft stock going up much by going back to Nova without Brunson and Bridges, as good as Quinerly is.

One thing that sticks out to me in this draft is how few legitimate/real SF's have declared. I am not very familiar with the foreign guys like Džanan Musa, Rodions Kurucs, Isaac Bonga and Arnoldas Kulboka who are listed as SF's, but I have doubts are 3 are legit NBA SF's. Others like Porter, Jr., Knox, Miles Bridges, and Bates-Diop are more likely PF's in the NBA. Maybe Mikal Bridges....but some think he is more like a SG. Outside of Jacob Evans and Hutchinson, not many other SF's with NBA talent. The position is already the most scarce in the league, and looks to only be getting worse. I would definitely put a premium on guys that I think can play real minutes at the SF position.

Just cycling back, I think we should re-frame "modern" PFs with legitimate guard skills - not just tall shooters - as "big wings" since conventional PFs have basically been phased out of the game. So even if Miles Bridges may be best at the four, he's functionally a second wing forward with the strength to bang and board.

I imagine Ingram as he gains strength and Kuz as he refines his handle as being functionally interchangeable, and pairings like Barnes/MPJ or Millsap/Knox could be similar.
