That was my early favorite for the late 1st. Streaky shooter, straight line driver; euro step, footwork, NBA body with body control into contact. Finishes either hand. Comfortable being primary playmaker for Boise St. with drive/kicks.

Was? Who or what changed your mind on him?

I was looking at him like a guard version of Kuzma..

No one else in the 20's really captured my attention.

More like, he skyrocketed past the "theoretical mock draft" early at the LAL draft position so I had to look for alternatives.

Just googled him (have totally passed on NCAA ball this year). Whoa. Um, interesting looking dude.

Lmfaooo...that nose though

The forehead contains all that hoop IQ and basket targeting.

Anyone know anything regarding Brian Bowen? I know he was a big-time recruit coming out of HAS but the whole Louisville scandal happened and it kind of dropped him off the radar. I believe he committed to the Game Cocks but didn't play. Any chance he bypasses playing a single game and decides to give the draft a chance? Dude has a pretty good jumper and some nice upside.

I don't think he declares.

Anfernee Simons

Oh hell no.

Bates-Diop may have a career in the NBA...may even become a decent rotational guy...but i just do not see any need for him on this roster. Btw, saw on ESPN earlier Bruce Brown Jr. may return this year if Miami makes it to 2nd week of tournament.

Fell out of favor for me. If the shooting isn't there, he's not a small ball 4, doesn't have requisite athleticism for 3.

As for Brown Jr., I think that's premature to say.

I'm just now starting to really get into watching these a little more in depth and familiarizing myself with guys I've either not watched much of, or not at all. Anfernee Simon's is the man on the list tonight. Kid is DYNAMIC. Not sure how good his hoop IQ is or how well he creates (moreso how willing) for others but the kid looks A LOT like Markelle Fultz. That crossover is QUICK. Pulls up without hesitation and can hit from all three levels. That explosive athleticism doesn't hurt.

Gotcha. He's my pick if they keep the pick. None of the names people are discyssing here do anything for me lol. Admittedly I haven't looked in depth at everyone but having looked at who I did all equally he stands out most to me.

So say everyone you're looking at is still on the board and it's the Lakers pick. Who are you taking?

I need someone else other than hutchison to be excited about

In vague order:

Troy Brown
Chandler Hutchison
De'Anthony Melton
Landry Shamet
Shamorie Ponds (really curious how workouts go)
Shake Milton

Ball-handling/shooting are fairly rudimentary. But I like that he can pass, switch, and really play defense. I'm okay if he learns to shoot later.

He also was a big shot maker at USC. Made a lot of key late game plays.

He also is fairly young for a Sophomore.

not the best night to make that claim....he had a horrific night tonight. 11 Turnovers....and he just killed UCLA in the last few minutes.

Yeaup.. he doesn't have the longest success sheet, most shooting coaches don't have a high success rate I don't think. Arguably the 2nd most important coach on the team though, hopefully we get a savant

Why do you think shooting coaches are not successful? My wild guess would be they instruct based on the way they shoot....and each person is different? Really, I have no idea....but how would a shooting coach help someone like Lonzo if he insists on maintaining unorthodox form? How would a coach have any idea how to improve that form?

I think it's because NBA shooting coaches generally get involved too late in the player's career/development trajectory. To have an immediate and visible effect they have to be coached from the day they're developing their shooting mechanics as kids. By the time a player enters the league the shooting mechanics are by and large set and to make major tweaks would require the player devote hundreds of thousands of reps to rebuilding their shot from scratch. On top of that, for a player to agree to rebuild their shot from scratch takes a specific type of mentality that the vast majority of humans simply don't have.

Ya I guess time is the biggest opposing factor...
Lets say a player makes a big tweak in his jumper that oppose his biomechanics/muscle memory ---- a player could be stiff shooting this new form for the next year..and then need to continue to build strength in those new biomechanics/form (Oladipo)
I see stiffness as a big issue with reworked jump-shots, mainly because the form's get reworked into like prototypical zero cockback 90degree elbow forms
https://3ball.io/plays?p1id=203937&evtt=1%2C2&actt=0%2C1%2C2%2C45%2C46%2C47%2C56%2C63%2C66%2C77%2C79%2C80%2C81%2C82%2C83%2C85%2C86%2C103%2C104%2C105&playId=0021700641_57

this is the product of what Chip England has been working with Kyle Anderson on for years......you see the stiffness! He was probably a better midrange shooter at UCLA. I don't feel like delving deep into the issue's shooting coaches have..but, I do feel they are too 'one size fits all', prototype form with minimal recourses in the big parts of the stroke.
Anderson's form there is trying to emulate Kawhi's prototype form and it doesn't fit Anderson

I watched parts of the first 10 mins or so, when they had 11 turnovers, and I must have seen about 10 UCLA possessions, with something like 7 of them ending in turnovers. I kept flipping back and forth, and I'm pretty sure that I saw more turnovers tonight from UCLA than actual shot attempts, when I was tuned in. I finally stopped watching with a few minutes left, figuring that they were better off without me LOL.

You’re looking for Mitchell Robinson or Daniel Gafford. A guy who fits that mold and is not generally on the draft radar who may be a value undrafted/summer league invite type is anfernee mclemore

Holiday got frustrated and kind of lost his composure in final minutes....had 3 or 4 TO's (2 was offensive fouls) in final minutes. It was 58-58 without about minute left, and Jaylen Adams hit a tough shot over Holiday...then Holiday had 3 straight turnovers...fouled out and finished with 11 TO's. Did not watch 1st half....or early in 2nd half....but Jaylen Adams had a terrible game shooting....not sure if that was related to Holiday's defense or not.

Such a 2 in a 1 body. Showed Jordan Clarkson level court vision, half the floor.

speaking of Jordan Clarkson, if Malik Newman has a good tourny, I'll believe he could be 90% of Clarkson. That'd be a good 2nd round pick

I've watched him for 2 years and think he's a SF in a guard body, but 2nd rounder? Sure.

this kid may actually turn into something in the NBA....looks taller than 6'7" on the court.....finished tonight with 39 Points, 14 Rebounds, 2 Assists, and 4 steals.....also had 8 TO's ....but he was the only player Washington had to defend, often running two guys at him.
