He's not very good at center.

If you have Lebron and PG13 does it really matter?

Actually yes. Need a rim protector and big man who can switch.

Tristan at his peak (pre-Kardashian) provided a bit of both.

Who's the rim protector on the Celtics? If everyone can stay in front of their man it's not that important.

They don't have a rim protector, but Horford >>> Nance, not even close as a center. (on both ends).

If they whiff in free agency it could be Okafor.

That's the frustrating thing when it comes to Okafor.

Offensively he's every bit the talent they say Embiid is, if not more so.

He can hit from mid range and he has a handle where he could take it from the perimeter.

He's very similar to DeMarcus Cousins in that aspect.

His defense however is his biggest weak point.

If we actually had a coaching staff that was good at player development that focused on all our young players instead of one or two(which is a problem that plagues some young teams), then I'd actually have faith that they'd be drilling defense with Okafor, be it verticality or understanding angles.

He obviously has the talent for it. He also has a 7'6 wingspan and a 9'3 standing reach, just an inch and a half shorter than Thomas Bryant's,

So Okafor has all the tools necessary to be a two way center or at the very least a borderline superstar talent on the offensive end, and an average defender.

If Okafor could do that he will be a star in this league.

It's just about at this point if you can get him to understand that about defense, because if he just got verticality down that would be a huge step. He's already got chops defending people in the post based on his reach alone, with no real knowledge of how to utilize it on the defensive end.

IF we were to get Okafor, and were to work with him on defense primarily and he actually had an understanding of verticality and angles, we'd have a steal.

The problem is getting him there and if our player development staff is good enough to do it.

Jah is a supreme offensive/post talent but it's not about player development with him, he shows no interest whatsoever in playing D.

With all the predraft hype that we'd draft Okafor it'll be pretty crazy if we ended up signing him lol.

For his sake, wherever he goes I hope this experience has made him hungry.

I thought offensively at least he could dominate in this league.

If you have Lebron and PG13 does it really matter?

Then put LeBron at C. Yeah, it kinda matters.

Lebron probably wouldn't be down for it, playing center full time would be extremely physically taxing for a 34 year old player. But gosh...

Lonzo
George
Ingram
Kuzma
Lebron

At the very least, it's a helluva death lineup. Maybe give Thomas Bryant or Zubac a token 10 mpg at starting center. Or some other ring chasing, semi-washed up, ring chasing vet center.

I would love to! I don't think he'd be down for it, however.

The point is if you spend $65m on two players you have to be willing to cut corners at some positions. Nance at a center is a trade off I'm betting they're willing to make.

I haven't been that enthusiastic about getting Cousins. But when I saw how Embiid abused our centers yesterday, I am sold. We need him.

If we got Bron and PG, id have Nance be small ball center and instead try and go get a cheaper guy like Dedmon or something to be the center.

For whatever reason, name has just bombed as a small ball center, but works as a four.

Remember when he wanted to be a Laker so badly? (Did he say that publicly or was it just inferred by the fans?). Too bad he didn't have a Lavar Ball for a father.

He had Magic's blessing though lol. Embiid wanted to be a Laker too. Sigh...

how cheap do you expect Dedmon to be next summer? He has an option for $6.3 Million....so unless he is confident he can get $8-$12 Million for multiple years, I doubt he would opt out.
