EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned Josh Hart and Ivica Zubac to the South Bay Lakers, it was announced today.

Zubac appeared in 14 games for the then-D-Fenders during the 2016-17 season, where he averaged 15.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game. The second-year center has appeared in two games for Los Angeles this season.

Hart has appeared in 11 games for Los Angeles this season. The 6-5 rookie out of Villanova has posted averages of 2.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 13.6 minutes per game.

Los Angeles has also recalled rookie center Thomas Bryant from the South Bay Lakers. In four games with South Bay, Bryant averaged 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 30.3 minutes per game.

I really like Bryant just from an unthusiasm standpoint. I think having him play some backup center and moving Randle back to PF on the 2nd team will help out a bit too...although he looked OK last night, I don't like Bogut very much at this point. If bryant looks reasonable I think they will cut Bogut since he's not a guaranteed contract.

Bryant's ability to shoot may separate him from Bogut (too old) and Zubac.

I guess they think, if needed, Bryant may have a better shot against Embiid than Zubac.

Hmm, I wonder if that means more Brewer at the SG spot.
Or a trade is brewing.
Where's my good friend, Dr. Claw to confirm?

Philly is big. Watched some of the Clipper game. With the exception of redick, it's like 4 centers out there.

he plays like Randle should play, goes back up on a rebound doesn't mess around. I bet if he gets some burn in the Philly game he will do good on the D side and get some easy points thank to lonzo

T.Bryant is averaging 20.5 pts, 6.3 rbs, 2.3 blocks in the G-League.

He's earned, at least, a temporary spot for now. The experience will be good for Hart & Zubac as-well-as Bryant.
The move strengthens SB and has no negative effect on the Lakers at the moment.

Win-win situation for all.

How great is it going to be for us that in one month, we find out we have another kid who could be a top 15 pick if there was a redraft. This kid could be a player.

maybe, but I would not bet on it....guy was totally lost on defense in SL and Preseason.....not unlike many rookies. He was ok on the ball, but he seem to miss every rotation and not really know what he was doing when the guy with the ball was not directly in front of him.

I am a huge Zublocka fan but did you see the game last night were Bogut was protecting the rim and fighting for rebounds? I don't quite get the irrational in my opinion hate for Bogut from many on this site. The guy is a vet, has great shot blocking timing and is an excellent passer. I am totally fine with giving him 10 minutes a night when we are playing bigger teams.

Zu's time will come.

Yes last night he was on

But Every game before yesterday, man he was garbage

He did look lazy on a rebound last night all he had to do was take two steps and grab it. He just watch it bounce out. I hate that remember rodman? Dude would dive on a chair just to try and save a possession

With how much quicker Bryant is getting as he grows into his body as he continues to work on it, I'm beginning to wonder, given his shooting ability if he's capable of playing the 4 at the next level as well as the 5.

Another thing of note, is last night Luke played Randle at the 4 a bit with Bogut at the 5.

Then a day later they put Zubac in the G League with Hart and call up Bryant.

Part of me wonders if Luke is thinking about trying a Bryant at the 5, Randle at the 4 bench lineup to see if Bryant is capable of playing the backup 5 and thus putting Randle at his natural position, and being able to not play Kuzma 40 minutes a game because he was allergic to playing Randle at the 4.

If that is the case and Luke does indeed try a Randle/Bryant at the 4/5 slot with the bench and it winds up working out well (Bogut and Randle were surprisingly an effective front court last night BUT it was against the Suns)

However if Bryant at the 5 and Randle at the 4 works, then it may wind up being Nance that's odd man out.

Hopefully, we'll have someone to challenge shots at the rim when Brook is on the bench. Already tired of seeing opposing players take it all the way to the rim while our players give each other curious looks wondering who was supposed to rotate and challenge.

I like the increased pressure on the perimeter this season but the interior is still a big problem.
