Quote:
Blake Griffin suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will be lost to the Clippers for up to eight weeks, the team said Tuesday. He was hurt in the closing minutes of the Clippers’ victory Monday over the Lakers at Staples Center. An MRI exam revealed the extent of the injury.

I think it's time for the Clippers to start over. Not only is Griffin injury prone, but he's also not a legit go to guy, yet he's being paid as if he is one who can be counted on to play at least 70 games a year.
If I'm them I'd look to trade Griffin ASAP (obviously this injury will make it hard to do so). The longer they wait to trade him, the lower his value will sink. His contract will eventually become a bad contract that will prevent them from signing big name free agents. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers

Griffin is sort of a weird #1 pick. Not a bust, but the Clippers could have drafted far superior players in Harden or Curry. (DeRozan was also in that draft class.) _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Yeah. He took the league by fire but he's kind of the forgotten star now. Not a lot of guys giving you 20/8/5, yet no one seems to really care about BG. It's weird. He's added to his game, but it hasn't changed his impact any. He basically came into the league contributing the same impact/value as he does today, just different numbers. strange.
Blake's problem is that he's been injured a lot. I remember he missed that season where he was supposed to be a rookie on the last game of the pre-season....now that is Clipper luck. Also he never developed any sort of distinct skills where you watch him play and say that is a signature of Blake Griffin. Harden did it. Curry did it.

The dunks/alley-oops were only so interesting for so long.

I can't fault the Clippers for picking Griffin; he was the no-brainer, concensus #1.
Three or four years into his career, he was racking up all-star appearances and all-NBA teams while Curry, Harden and DeRozan didn't look like anything special yet.
He's just been ravaged by injuries. The big question mark was the Clippers giving him that $173 million extension in 2017 when he had spent the previous two years with all sorts of injuries.
My guess is they wanted to keep Blake to keep the fans coming to Clipper games....what they didn't count on was how bad the Clippers would be without CP3 and now that Blake is injured again they will probably have a lot harder time winning games. Probably for the best anyways, the Logo needs to work his magic if they have any chance of building a decent team for the future.

I think they're forever interesting - but he lost the ability to do them --- he's wayyy less of a leaper now, and he's spoken a lot about it. He is damn skilled now though, 3s, ball handling, passing. I love his game. sucks he's injury prone
Yeah, his body is not holding up to the game. The long term effect of suffering debilitating injuries (repetitive too, right knee, ankle, toe) is the postponement that occurs in adding new skill and technique to one's game. Considering how many times Griff's missed extensive parts of seasons, it's understandable to me that about all he added was the jumper and an improved FT conversion rate.

Is it fair to say that if you combine today's Griffin with freak athlete Griffin, you would basically have Ben Simmons? (Though I think Simmons is still a much better passer.) _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Now, it's the left knee.
Ehh, he is semi injury prone but this last one was a fluke. He got rolled up on.
