This nonsense has to stop. Nike and the NBA are really screwing this up.
Purple at home is completely bullsh*t.
Gold = home
Purple = away
White = sunday home
IT'S THAT (bleep) SIMPLE! |

Nike has shown a complete disregard and lack of guard for the sanctity of the Laker franchise. The Lakers are one of the league's most storied franchises - indeed, arguably its most - and for Nike to thrust two middle fingers up in its opinion and treatment of the jerseys that the Lakers wear on a nightly basis is troublous, nauseating and sickening. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

Nike has had the audacity, temerity and unmitigated gaul to not only insinuate but outright deny that the 'gold' jerseys are anything less than perfect; they have even gone as far as to say that their representation of the Laker gold is MORE accurate, MORE true to the Laker brand. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

Any loon with half a nose will point out that the current jerseys are closer to piss yellow than they are to gold - I'm talking piss that is so neon yellow one would think the pisser had just swallowed five multivitamins and three of those 'green drinks.' _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

One of our esteemed members on LakersGround, whose name escapes me at the moment (my apologies), actually went and emailed Nike, pointing out this comedy of errors.
Nike's retort was essentially tantamount to what one might find in a Logic 101 class - the fallacies section, of course. Their response was filled with straw men and herrings so red you could hardly distinguish them from a newly-detailed set of Ferrari automobiles fresh from the factory in Italy. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

We all have our reservations regarding Luke Walton, son of Bill. But even he publicly pointed out the travesty that is the Nike Lakers uniform ensemble. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

We wore our 'gold' uniforms on the road in Foston; we've worn our 'Sunday whites' on every day not beginning with sun; we've worn our purple uniforms a grand total of one plus one times in over twenty games; and now, we've worn our purple uniforms at home. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

Change for the sake of change and because they have a contract with money to spend - so they’ll spend it wisely or not.
I think Nike is responsible for those disgusting NFL color rush uniforms too. Aside from the Steelers version those things are hideous. |

I wouldn't be surprised if they marketed a one time special edition green home jersey.....you know money grab and all. |

Thank you, sir
And thanks for the Jersey exclamation. That’s just bizarre. Why is Nike doing this to any other team? Why can’t they just make what we want the way we want it? It actually makes me wonder what the front offices role in this is? Like did they not care so they told Nike don’t worry about it or are they mad too or????
Odd. |

While each of the 30 NBA teams worked with Nike separately to either tweak or reenvision a uniform set that will include four different options, there was ample opportunity for Nike to approach the opportunity with a fresh perspective.
snip
With new rules allowing the home team to select which of their four uniforms they will wear on a given night and the visiting team selecting a contrasting look, the uniforms are no longer called home, away and alternate. Now the league has Association and Icon edition uniforms—really, the old home and away. The Statement Edition, revealed in September, comes as the team’s third uniform and was inspired by the player mindset. The yet unreleased fourth uniform comes inspired by the community.

The Laker jerseys are one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports and perhaps my favorite thing about the Lakers special place in NBA history. Every pathetic attempt to shake up the jersey market inevitably results in the diminishment of those jerseys. |

I've never been a fan of the gold home jerseys. They always looked rather cheesey to me. Always preferred the road jerseys. I do seem to recall that at one time the road jerseys actually were purple before giving way to "Forum" blue, which looks better than purple.
Only good thing about the Clips moving to L.A. was that it finally gave me the opportunity to see the Lakers play live in their road jerseys. I wouldn't mind seeing the home jerseys go through a compete makeover including color. |

I liked the Hollywood Nights. And that's Nance's favorite uniform so watch yo mouf. JK
I do really like them though and I think we have yet another uniform coming up soon, unless I heard it wrong.
And the Charger colors from their Minny days are amazing. |

I’m a traditionalist, but since Kobe is attached to this, it’s good in my book. |

Harlemlakerfan wrote: | I've been a laker fan for over 30 years. I live in NY so I don't get a chance to see my team as much in person. I've been to several Knicks and Nets games vs the Lakers. I was even at Kobe 61 point game at the Garden and I was also at Pau Gasol's first game as a Laker, versus the Nets. But my dream, is to come to LA and see a Lakers game at Staples. I want to see statues outside, the banners inside and maybe get a glimpse of Jack. But most of all, I want to see the Gold Jerseys in person. That is like, the most traditional Laker asset.
So now Nike has come along and ripped tradition away from us. I would be pissed off if/when I come to Staples to see a game and the team decides to wear the purple jerseys, which I love, but I see them every time I go to a game. I also don't want to head to game in NY, walk in and my first experience with the Gold Jersey's are in MSG or Barklay's Center! THAT IS NOT LAKER TRADITION!
I really hope that the NBA or the Lakers themselves change this. In a small way, its ruining the Laker fan experience.
Last night, Puple Jersey, Staples Center Lakers floor..... WRONG, on so many levels! |
Well... you have chance to see the gold jersey in NY now. No worry. |
