But that's kinda become his thing in the NBA, too, and I just accept that he's pretty good at those awkward-looking finishes around the rim. Isn't he shooting an above average percentage in that area right now?

Ya but he's doing it in a traditional roller-big way, or semi post way. His first two years he showed that dribbling into the paint in an almost Lebron way, you can't be a good finisher flipping up those shots on the move -- you end up only being able to get 5foot flip shots against NBA defenders. Even Ben Simmons can't create his own layup consistently! Looking back on it, thinking Randle was going to have success driving/handling like Lebron -- it wasn't guna happen. Plus his vision while handling is below average

Former Lakers - 2015-16 Roster

- Brandon Bass - 0.9954 - 5 Star - National Rank - #13
- Ryan Kelly - 0.9942 - 5 Star - National Rank - #16
- Anthony Brown - 0.9757 - 4 Star - National Rank - #64
- Roy Hibbert - 0.9081 - 3 Star - National Rank - #145
- Robert Sacre - 0.8964 - 3 Star - National Rank - #175

* Kobe Bryant did not have a 247 Sports or Rivals ranking as neither were operating during his high school playing period. Since he was McDonalds National Player of the Year, he would have very likely been a 5 Star with a top national ranking.

I recall Kobe was ranked #2 in his class behind Tim Thomas in an old SI CBB preview mag I had for years.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way about Randle's awkward looking in-the-paint flips. It's ugly as hell and when I see it, I think "terrible shot", but he somehow converts. I still wish he refined his game though. When he misses those shots, it's feels like Dwight Howard trying to shoot perimeter shots - a wasted possession.

J-Critt: 5-star recruit, #1 in State, #1 PG, #7 Overall

Remember how excited I was when we got him at #19 because as Lakers fans, while we think fondly of D-Fish, we also all hated him and thought we needed a better starting PG.

His 13th game in the NBA, he lead the Lakers with 19 points on 7-9 shooting (outscoring Kobe and "Sweet" Lou Williams) https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200801040LAL.html

Of course we all know what happened to J-Critt...

the year before that I recall Ron Mercer being ranked #1....and Vince Carter being ranked #2

on another note...can't believe Vince graduated high school before Kobe.
