I've actually been thinking recently that Draymond is my favorite comp for Lonzo. Two of the few guys capable of being the best player on the court in a game without being a big time scorer.
I've never seen a rookie PG play defensively big until now.
Very high praise for him Mike. does that mean you consider him a "generational" player like so many people like to say
I don't know about generational. That's super difficult.
I will say, new archetype.
lonzo seems as good as advertised. multiple all-star, all NBA level.
generational would be a once in a generation player i guess (kobe, lebron, shaq). not sure peak potential lonzo is that high but then again who knows. never thought kobe would have been.

Generational means different things to different people. To me Garnett, Duncan, Dirk, Wade, even Gasol are all generational players. Others have a stricter idea of what it means.

It's pretty remarkable how much impact Lonzo has as a floor General despite his low field goal percentage. That's one positive that we can take away from the nine game losing streak when he was out. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Of all the things Zo brings, I think I've been most impressed with his D.
From watching him at UCLA, I was already aware that his off-ball D was very advanced. Quick hands. Great anticipation/timing.
But now watching him go up against starting-level NBA PGs, his on-ball D has been even more impressive. The discipline/timing he's shown in when to go for the shot block is highly-advanced. I know blocking shots alone isn't a great indicator of how good one's defense is, but how many times have we seen him block some of the elite PGs so far this year? It's just something you don't see many guards do.
A Ball/Hart defensive backcourt can, potentially, do a LOT of damage. _________________ Everything. Changes.

Cool stats similarities.
But these guys play nothing alike
They actually do - low usage creators who space the floor and provide good (Lonzo) to elite (Dray) defense, particularly team defense.
A general overview comparison?
Maybe when players are compared I'm expecting them to play similar roles.
Just playing different positions and guarding different positions make it hard to compare imo.
I can't wait for someone to post their play types and frequencies.

To me, like 1 in 50 years kind of thing. You get 1 Wilt, then Shaq. No Kareem, No Magic, No Hakeem, etc. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
