The OG Super Mario Bros (NES) and the Contra game series are STILL fun to play.

So many of the titles listed are bringing back some great memories.

I remember my first ever MMORPG experience on PC was with Ultima Online.
You created your character, chose some skills and set off into the world. It was almost like the Sims in that regard. You could stay in town and just "live" out the day and build your character up... buy a house, ship etc.

But the most fun was when you said "eff it" and battled with other REAL characters. So much fun. You would die and get your corpse looted. It was traumatic. LOL

What? No love for the arcade game Tron?

The light cycles were always the most fun for me.

I remember as a kid all the quarters I was given on that game from my dad were gone in just a little while.

Yes, I loved the movie too at the time and now still.

Bye.

If I don't have a strong memory of playing a particular game a lot, it was probably only due to lack of machines in my area. I was looking at a list and there are other staples like Space Invaders that I recall playing at least once, but were just not around the typical 7/11 or pizza place arcade. Otoh, I STILL had a pizza parlor near my job in 2000 that had a Dig Dug and a Galaga. I know Tron was a popular title, too, so Iono. Believe it or not, I only got around to seeking the movie for the first time just a couple years ago. I liked Double Dragon a lot in the later 80s. Last one I played a bit in my daze was Street Fighter II, but that was like the Coca Cola of titles the year that came out. Other type of gm I never fancied even as a young kid were race gms like Pole Position, Mario Kart or forward flying/driving gms like AfterBurner. I sucked at AfterBurner, so that could've factored in.

Oh, another NES gm I played to mental disturbance was Tetris. That's more of a neurotransmitter drug than a video gm. I would have the tiles falling down in my visual field at night while trying to sleep, a common complaint, but I would get to the point where I was also rotating them too, in my mind.

A lot of them.

DKC. DKC 2. I used to rush, not speedrun, them.

Metal Slug series.

I thought DKC Returns for the Wii was amazing. After I beat that, I got the original DKC on virtual console and beat that. I want to play Tropical Freeze at some point.

The game companies consider emulation illegal even though they no longer sell hard ware that can run their old games or the games them selves. IP idiocy at its greatest.
