I'm buying an under-mount sink and faucet for my new countertops I'm about to have installed and with all sink+faucet pictures I see online, almost none have a dishwasher air gap installed. I rather not install another one if I can get away with it but I'm curious what others do.

The code varies by city. Mine, in northern CA, requires one. We would have preferred not to have one but had no choice.

Wonder why you can't get a faucet with one built in.

I have an air gap, but you can buy these nifty soap dispeners which sit right on top of it so that’s what I did. Forget it’s even there. Don’t know enough about construction/plumbing to know how necessary it really is so trusted the guy who remodeled my kitchen who suggested I get it and cover it with a soap dispenser.

Looks like this: https://st.hzcdn.com/simgs/80e1e773000bc2e7_8-8071/contemporary-kitchen.jpg (to right of the faucet)

(No, that’s not MY kitchen although swap the black quartz counter with a white quartz counter, and the double sink for a large single basin sink, and it would actually kinda look similar!)

I had a soap dispenser in my air gap hole (no jokes) and had the air gap line T'd into my Garbage Disposal line for over 5 years and never had a problem.

When I bought a new Dishwasher last tear and had the Geek Squad install it, they stated it was code to have the normal sink top air gap, so I moved the soap dispenser to the opposite side..

It's not a huge deal and believe me you DON'T want to have a minor flood in your kitchen, like the Nile slogan...just do it...!
