Woj just reported this on ESPN and said these talks are serious. I've said here before the Clippers should go ahead and trade him and start over, partly because they gave him a contract that he's probably not worth. This would also make Detroit an interesting team moving forward, and maybe even a dark horse contender as soon as next year.
EDIT: The trade looks official now according to ESPN, so I updated the thread title. Thanks Worthy42 and Basketball Fan for mentioning that it's official. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers

I guess he wants out before CP3 comes back to the locker room . . . _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

I'm guessing Doc won't be around after this season either. He still has another year on his contract after this one but he's also one of the highest paid coaches in the league and more a vets' coach. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

So if you’re the Cavs do you give up the Nets pick for DeAndre Jordan and the Pistons pick? |

I’m surprised he signed for all that money and his contract doesn’t include a no-trade clause. |

I was just reading an article this morning how the Pistons were making Avery Bradley available for trade due to his impending free-agency. I'm guessing the Clips let him walk. If not, it will be interesting seeing Bradley and Patrick Beverly in the same backcourt next season. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

There’s talk that DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams are also available. But regardless, trading Griffin means Jerry is beginning to clean house. Griffin was supposed to be The Guy once Paul left. Now he’s been sent packing. Jerry has sat back and watched this squad and has seen enough. Doc Rivers can’t feel safe either at this point.
New day in Clipper Land. And they’ve still never even come close to the Lakers in LA despite having the most success they’ve ever had while the Lakers have been simultaneously wretched.
Like Pat Riley said way back in the mid-80s in response to a Clippers marketing campaign “Who says the Clippers are the ‘team of the people’??!!”
Always a Lakers fan first but I’m rooting for my guy Jerry, especially now that this ridiculously overrated and overhyped squad is finally being put to rest. Good riddance to this embarrassingly puffed up squad. |

This is so awesome. I despise the Clippers even more because of him.
Jerry West knows he's a big loser. |

Is it just me or did the Pistons get absolutely fleeced in this deal?
Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley are legitimate players. I wouldn't call them stars, but they are certainly more than just "role players". The Clippers also got draft picks.
The Clippers were able to maintain a roster that can still make the playoffs while acquiring future assets to assist in re-building/re-tooling for future seasons. _________________ ...in my opinion. |

Not everyone was pleased to hear of Blake Griffin's blockbuster swap.
The Los Angeles Clippers traded their talismanic forward to the Detroit Pistons on Monday, sending shockwaves through the NBA. Matt Barnes, one of Griffin's former teammates in Los Angeles, wasn't impressed by the news of the trade and chided the Clippers for shipping off one of their best players months after re-signing him to a $173-million deal. The retired forward took his displeasure a step further, though, by singling out head coach Doc Rivers as the problem in Los Angeles.
"So you trade this guy after paying this much money..?" Barnes' caption reads. "When everyone in the organization & everyone who's played there knows DOC IS THE PROBLEM!!!"
Barnes played three seasons with the Clippers from 2012-15, with two of those campaigns coming under Rivers' leadership after Los Angeles acquired the head coach from the Boston Celtics in June 2013.
Barnes retired from the NBA in December after 14 seasons.

I believe if their goal is getting a big name FA this summer, Doc has to go. CP3 made is clear he was unhappy playing for Doc and I think it rubbed many players the wrong way the way he paid his son over getting or even keeping better talent.
I'd bet Doc is gone and I wouldnt be surprised if they hire David Fizdale in and effort to persuade LeBron. |

Guess the Lakers have some competition in the free agent market this summer. |

Doc is the problem huh? Funny how when he got there, the team was on the rise because Vinny Del Negro was gone and was supposed to be the problem. |

Jerry's gonna start from scratch, build from DeAndre Jordan. Austin's time may be short as well as Doc's. When Doc wouldn't trade his son for Carmelo the team started to unravel. Jordan's only 29, there's time.

The deal, which was first reported by ESPN, will send Griffin, Willie Reed and Brice Johnson to the Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a first- and second-round draft pick, according to two people with knowledge of the trade who were not authorized to speak publicly because it had not yet been announced. |

I believe Doc is a part of the problem. I don't think Rivers is worth a 3 year $35,475,000 contract. Doc got his son paid and I think it rubbed some of the team the wrong way, starting with CP3. It's rumored some were upset because they had a chance to get Carmelo Anthony. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
