Kobe Bryant’s MVP status…
Is Kobe the MVP, while the Lakers are 26-26 and 3-7 the last 10 games?
Is Kobe Bryant still a serious MVP consideration with the current status of the Lakers?
Where do the Lakers need to finish in the playoff seeding for Kobe Bryant to have a legitimate shot at the league MVP award? |

6th spot to get any serious consideration, and that's only because everybody now realizes the garbage he's playing with. |

Hard to fight off Nash if the Suns win the division. There's too many Kobe haters who won't consider Kobe without 45+ wins and with Nash leading a team many expected to fall short with Amare out and JJ and QRich moving on. |

Kobe's name was mentioned as an MVP because he made a lot of noise in the first half. 43 ppg in a month, 81 pts in a game; while his teammates stunk it up. Media saw this, the Lakers were winning (6th at the time), and propped him up as the front runner.
Lately he's been averaging a relatively human 30 somethin ppg, his team's been losing, and his teammates are stinking it up even more than we possibly could have predicted. Teams now know that Kobe is the only legit player on this JV squad we call the Lakers, so they are rightly triple teaming the hell out of him and daring the likes of Kwame Brown and Sasha Vujacic to beat them. Obviously, it's working. So at this moment, no MVP for Kobe.
The only way Kobe can get back in the running is if he makes noise in the 2nd half again. To do this, the Lakers will have to go on some insane winning streak or two (10? two streaks of 6?) with Kobe averaging a "mere" 33 or so and dishing out his normal-as-of-late 7-9 assists per game. And for this winning streak to happen, the team will have to play some defense and stop choking away games. And for those assists to pile up, the team will have to make their shots. I'll leave it up to you to figure out the chances of this happening (is that a pig that just flew by my window?). |

there is no way kobe wins the mvp. the lakers simply aren't good enough. even if i could vote i woudn't vote for him. it's nash imo _________________ "I wish I could draw a picture of the look on their faces..... Actually if I had to Pick over Kobe it would be Chris Paul....His team sucks on paper...but for some reason they are doing better than LA. Rook or not MVP status goes to Paul. _________________ Panthas |

You're joking, right?
Only way that Kobe even re-enters the MVP discussion is if he gets the Lakers to 50 wins. And that's not happening. |

Kobe.......Nash.....and Lebron.....to me are the main contenders......and if the Sixers get 45 or so wins AI should be a top 5 pick in that race......
I hink for Kobe to have a great chance at winning the MVP he needs to keep the scoring average up above 34,not allow it to slide.......Plus get that assist rate up to 5 (it's 4.4 now).....he needs to start getting 6 assists a game from here on out......Get that FG % up above 45%.....
And finally the lakers must get 45 wins at the very least, and at worst a 7th seed.......6th seed would most probably get Kobe that MVP award..... |

with the 6th seed 34 point per game 5 assist and 45 wins, no doubt:
MVP |

They won 3 games without Chris Paul. It's Byron Scott too. |

I think Paul is the ROY but not an MVP contender because he have in his team the most improved player and the coach of the year |
