"Johnson specifically said Antetokounmpo would win a championship in Milwaukee. The NBA is promoting the interview on its own website!
If this is tampering, any time Kings minority owner Shaquille O’Neal praises a non-Sacramento player during a TV appearance is tampering. So is president-coaches – Spurs’ Gregg Popovich, Pistons’ Stan Van Gundy and Timberwolves’ Tom Thibodeau – praising an opposing player before or after a game."

It's pretty simple though. High level execs cannot talk about other team's players who are under contract.
The devil is in these details (even if stupid). If that's the case, does he grasp the nuances of the salary cap like Morey or see strategic moves like Ainge?
Magic we need you sir! Tighten it up.
How does that apply to GM/coaches like Thibodeau who comment on players they just faced? _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

This is such BS. They're targeting the Lakers. Don't even know why. NBA is good when the Lakers is good, money would roll in even more. BS BS BS
I have been following comments on twitter today and even the people that hate the Lakers say this is a joke.
The small market teams absolutely fear the Lakers being on top again. Eventhough the Lakers give 50m of their revenue a year due to profit sharing, they still aren't satisfied.
"He's obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball," Jordan said of [Bryant]
Fixed it for you.
Indeed WTF? Jordan used to get interviewed all the time as a Hornets executive about Kobe v. Lebron. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

I disagree, it's not simple at all. The reporter is actually writing a story about Gannis. Gannis is compared to Magic. The reporter informs MAgic that Gannis is compared to him and asked Magic if he agreed.
This fine is of the stinky BS. The NBA over reached on this one period!
I guess GM and presidents that happen to be ALL-TIME GREATS can't answer a question about how current players games resembles there own. What a joke _________________ Winning is all that matters!!

It seems like an innocuous comment to me. The only thing I can guess is Magic has such a history of tampering that the NBA has him on a short leash. He is to tampering fines what Rasheed Wallace was to technical fouls!

I guess we’ll find out. It’s a ticky tack foul indeed but the nba hasn’t released the reason no?

exactly and many were quick to jump down Magic's throat for no reason...

I don't think we know exactly why, but it's not going to be for nothing.
If they are levying a fine, a rule was violated, plain and simple. The magic man just can't help himself.
We were already on probation for the previous fine and warning. It takes less to trigger an infraction in that case. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Completely ridiculous, Magic said nothing that was even close to tampering.
If you can't compliment a player on another team, a lot of dudes should be getting fined....Popovich comes to mind right off the bat as does Doc Rivers.

LOL, I work with a young kid who is a hardcore Bucks fan (I know strange right?) and even he thought it was laughable. Giannis is under contract for 3 more years anyway right? That is a long time off to start tampering for free agency, give me a (bleep) break. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

A $50k fine is also laughable when you consider that the Lakers are paying KCP like $250k to play in tonights game. This is nothing.
Some years ago, Phil Jackson was fined by the NBA for talking to the press about Chris Bosh when Bosh was in his second or third year with the Raptors. So, not only does the league not want ownership talking other team's players under contract, they also don't want coaches doing it.
Magic got into trouble with MLB for pretty much this same thing. He stated that the Dodgers would have no interest in a certain player who was due to be a free agent.
He is going to have to be smarter. He's still acting like he's a player and that means trouble for the Lakers.
This is nothing more than other teams picking on the Lakers because they know we have enough money to sign 2 FA's and they're all scared like that wimp Dan Gilbert, because they know we are a much more superior franchise than they are.
If the fine was for the comments, then this is just absolute BS. If there’s more to it, I don’t really care. Actually happy to have a front office that plays the game (in a way that everyone already does as well). Who cares about the fines (Lakers make a lot of money, that cost is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of free agency). Wake me up when it goes to something beyond fines.
This is such a BS fine and the word tampering has now lost all meaning.
Windhorst says that it's hilarious how much tamper occurs in the NBA and it's silly that the league went after Magic for this. It's a BS fine, but let's pile up on Magic.
Reports are saying Magic commented on Giannis’ monster Step Brothers Drumset dunk in MSG tonight by saying it was awful and was not worthy of highlight material.
Well played, Magic, well played. _________________ DEAR BASKETBALL
