This is really stupid on Isaiah’s part. If you needed the surgery and we’re only going to need a 4 month recovery time, why not get it last May/June?

He would’ve only missed a few weeks (at most) of the season and not annoyed the whole damn league with his weekly “wait till I get back” comments.

This is after a season full of rehab, who knows how long the surgery recovery would’ve taken last summer. His non surgical rehab itself took months. I do understand why he opt for the less invasive option, prob thinking less risk/shorter recover in a contract year. He wants to get paid as much as he can get, just like the rest of us. Now that he underwent hip surgery, He really has to prove he can fully recover. Should be a bargain 1yr signing for a team

no. Go back and see the list of names I (and others) have suggested. And Ennis is not on it.

It says a lot that you never trot out your list of alternatives... if you felt truly confident in them, you'd list them each time and shut me down... but instead it's always the boogeyman known as the hip. It's telling that we've had this discussion a hundred times and you almost never mention the names unless I ask you... and then it's change the subject back to the hip.

The hip is important which is why we only want a modest one year offer... but better taking a chance on someone who might return to form than play journeymen who could play a thousand years and never will be good.

Why in the world would he need to list out alternatives 'each time'?

How about you read and remember what his alternatives were instead of trying to instigate something like you attempted to do with me last week over this diminutive male with a squatty potty for a mouth?

And why do you NEVER acknowledge the effect this little guy with a big mouth has on locker rooms? Is that not an obvious turn off for management, players, and coaching staff?

And if I ask you about that 100 times and you answer is once are you obligated to answer it 99 more times.

Dude...get over yourself seriously.

Lakers coach Luke Walton and the front office have been encouraged by Thomas' fit with the team, and Walton feels he's had a positive impact on the younger players, team sources told ESPN. However, the examination of his health and recovery will be paramount for any team deciding whether to make a contractual commitment to him.

"The team's agenda always came first and he never complained about it once," Walton said Wednesday. "... Him and Julius [Randle] had a nice connection going. I loved the banter between him and [Kyle Kuzma] out there on the floor. He was great. You go down the line, he affected all the guys that played minutes for us, the young guys."

Walton said Thomas wanted to be a starter but "never complained" about coming off the bench, putting the team's goals ahead of his own personal goals.

Brandon Ingram, who will return to action Wednesday after missing 12 games with a groin injury, said Thomas' leadership and ability to draw attention on the court will be missed.

He has been a really good leader for us," Ingram said. "He has kind of been our vocal guy going into every single game, every single day, giving us pieces of advice how to be better."

It's too bad he had to have the surgery. We would have won quite a few more games if he had been able to keep playing.

I did dial it down as my partner in crime also did.

Let me just say though... the boards have been dead... nearly every sports talk show is build on the format of two people with opposite point of views arguing for an hour. What do you want to see? Two people going back and forth about how great each other's opinions are? I get that we were getting obnoxious but I'd argue that it's better than a dead board or total silence.

No doubt. He is an experienced vet. I could see him on a super cheap (minimum to room exception MLE level deal) make good deal next year. If it’s the Lakers the team would retain his Bird rights to 2019 if he comes back healthy.

Oh on this year’s squad no doubt. Unless y’all are loving the Ennis/Caruso show.

Definitely miss him too, we could use his scoring off the bench and all these "one possession" losses would have likely been wins.

All I've said this entire thread is that we really needed a good backup for Lonzo... hopefully this last stretch of games wakes everyone up to this fact.
I get those who are worried about his health... it is a legitimate point... but also please recognize that half measures aren't going to cut it next year.

He was missed, and it probably cost us a couple of games we might have had a chance to win. But really, Thomas gave us all he could while he rehabbed. If things turn out and he wants a one year deal, I'd be good with that.

IT played hard, and from what Luke and other players have said, he was a good influence. Short of growing to six foot five, I don't know what more we could have asked from him.

Lowkey, post IT Lakers would have had a real squad if we stayed healthy.

Lonzo,KCP,Ingram,Randle,Lopez,IT,Hart and Kuzma is a solid 8 man rotation that could be a playoff team.

That's the value of letting a guy to rehab in the Lakers facility. The medical team will know every tiniest detail of his health. And then the FO can make an informed decision about whether he can play next season or is he likely to go down soon again.

In a weird way it seems he was never here. It was like listening to the Frye interview last night, he kept switching from “them” to “us and we”. It seems that they aren’t sure where they belong. On a side note I would like to see Frye return next season.

End of the bench emergency stretch big. He’s only been on the team a short time yet he’s constantly coaching up the younger guys.

Frye at the minimum would be an excellent mentor role for the team. I also could see Richard Jefferson too. #Arizona
