Absolutely agree.
It's pretty easy to hate on Deng because of his contract and some spotty or ineffectual play at times. He was placed in the starting lineup as a 3 which was probably one of Luke's worst personnel decisions and it played out the way many here predicted it would. With BI's emergence, maybe we can slide him down to some spot minutes at 2 in Hart's absence and play Deng at his more natural position of Stretch 4. I think he'll get many more looks in his flow playing alongside Zo and Randle.
He's not the guy we need but he's better than what we oft give him credit for. Anything to help boost some semblance of value back from that hideous contract of his. _________________ We back. |

Going into today, with Brewer buying out and leaving I thought we should consider Deng just in case Hart couldn't play for part of a game.
With Hart's hand injury, we'd be nuts not to consider it.
I don't believe a 10 day G league guy is going to help us stay in more games than Deng, even if Luol is rusty. |

The Nigel Hayes of the GLeague world still aren't better than a rusty Deng.
He's nowhere near a 18m/year player, but I feel he's unfairly blamed for taking a deal that was offered by Jim/Mitch. Screw the $18m. Is it likely he can contribute more than a random 10 day GLeague player? Yes. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

They should give him backup minutes at the 4. A lot of this was the new coaching staff’s inability to fit Deng into the system. Last year was a tanking mess. And this year the coaching staff was still trying to find its way until recently. I think he never really got a fair shake here. They should give him a shot now. |

I still contend that Deng is a more productive player than Lopez ... yes, even at center.
I’d start Deng. I told y’all in preseason to start Hart with Pope, and I also told y’all to start Deng over Lopez at Center. Nothing has changed for me.
Those claiming Deng is done will only keep believing that until they “see” otherwise, while others like myself and others don’t have to “see” things with our eyes to know what is and isn’t reality.
Deng isn’t done people. |

Just wish they play him. There is a playing time for him. I could see he can defend better than kuz can at the 4 spot. Still want the youth movement, but 10-15 min slot is there for Deng |

Deng is better than Brewer. If Brewer got minutes so should Deng. He's been at every practice and not complaining.
There's absolutely no reason to not play him at this point. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Brewer played like 12mpg. Deng can easily absorb that in playing both forward spots. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Would play Deng as much as possible.
There is possibility he might attract some interest and
can be traded. But don't send any assets except money
with him. Maybe take on part of his salary with the other
team.
And the worse that will happen is will know if have to stretch him next year.
There must have been a reason the Lakers gave him such a good contract. Is there? |

Playing with Lonzo I think we can restore 5% of his trade value.
But at SG, we are down to KCP/Lonzo; SF is just BI, and PF is Jules/Kuz.
Deng would allow us to get some depth at SF/PF. If Kuz plays "SF" then you can bring Deng as a PF, etc. |
Brook (24), Randle (12), Zubac (12)
Randle (20), Kuzma (12), Deng (16)
BI (32), Kuzma (16)
KCP (32), Lonzo (16)
Lonzo (16), IT (32)
Can also slide BI down to SG at times and free more minutes at F for Deng/Kuzma. Don't have much to lose IMO. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

We may have to play him due to our recent injury rate of attrition. |

We lost three SFs in what? 4 days? Geez.
I know Hart is a SG but he played a lot of SF for us.
Time to play Deng right? |

I take it as a good sign that Deng was in uniform tonight. And a terrible sign too.
A terrible sign that we're so decimated at SF right now, but good that the Lakers are smart enough to realize it's the right choice to have Deng on the bench and available on the active roster.
We got by without him tonight - kudos to Kuzma for being able to play out of position at the 3. He was far better against Miami than I expected of him at that position.
Still, if Ingram can't play against San Antonio I think we'd have no choice but to play Deng for some significant minutes. I hope Ingram can play without hurting himself doing so. We'll see how this unfolds. |

Why? For the novelty. Leave the old man alone and let the young guys play. The money he got is gone, live with it |
