There is a very good reason IT has been traded 4 times in the last 7 years! He SUCKS defensively. He is a LIABILITY defensively. I will take a defensive stopper over all his offense. We are a better team with Josh Hart in the game over IT. I don't want him or his attitude anywhere near this team. He needs to come off the bench only. Ball's offense is not close to IT's but Ball's defense is 1000 times better than IT's! I don't think the Lakers have a place for him on this team going forward.
Nailed it
Both of y'all need to stop he was a MVP candidate last year on one the best defensive teams and was traded because they got Kyrie for an injured IT those other two franchises he played for didn't mean jack.
Yes, one vote for the NBA All Defensive Team. Pretty much why we don't want Plashke and Simers deciding the roster construction and player usage.
Lastly, there's a team in Cleveland trying to win a title so they can keep King James on the team. They just traded your MVP candidate, Channing Frye and their 1st round pick for Clarkson and Nance. In other words, teams trying to win titles don't usually trade MVP candidates. Oh, and if you're going to pick a media head, try one of the smarter ones:

After all that, Isaiah Thomas played 15 games in Cleveland, and the Cavs had to attach a pick to him to get two (solid) players off the Lakers bench -- one of whom LA had been trying to trade already (Clarkson).
In other words, the Cavs so wanted Thomas gone...gone, gone, gone, that they traded Mr. MVP candidate AND A PICK for a contract that both teams knew the Lakers wanted to dump. That speaks volumes to the worth, or rather, lack thereof, of Mr. MVP candidate.
You gotta realize that other forums are going to have a field day with this thread you just created. Both CLE & BOS are lurking here and laughing about how we already hate having IT on our team. Just like how we take satisfaction when they fall short, they will be living on this thread happily reading how Lakers fans feel stuck with IT for the next few months.
Do you not understand what the laker’s strategy is?
Yes. I’m glad we got the expiring contracts to try and land the max FA’s
But in the meantime it’s going to be painful watching Thomas get abused every night on defense
It'll be fine. IT will either find his way or Luke will play him limited minutes (hopefully). It's not IT's fault that the Mavs no name players looked like The Clips Lob City years. They have a superior coach, a superior system, and half our team wasn't playing any defense. It is painful, but let's give it the rest of the season to see what we've got here. We have bigger goals. And IT wasn't the only one looking terrible at times out there.

Again, the rest of the team has been better than this defensively most of the season, and will be better than this going forward. I’m sure of that
But you can’t fix 5 foot 8. Hopefully Luke cuts his minutes in half when Lonzo gets back.
We do not have the personnel to make up for the midget’s lack of defense.

Thomas received four third-place votes, eight fourth-place votes, and 37 fifth-place votes from a panel of 100 media members. He finished with 81 points, well behind James (333 points) and slightly ahead of sixth-place Stephen Curry (52). _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

This is what I keep telling myself about Randle.
SMH. Dude is a bully and shoots over 55% down low. If and when he's gone, you're going to miss that stable play in the paint. More perimeter shots at 40% clip. Hooray for modern ball!

40% on 3 is far more efficient that 55% in the paint. Hooray for basic math indeed. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

IT works when everyone around him is a solid + defender. That's how Boston hid the guy.
Part of the issue is basic switching means your opponent just runs his player through a pick and roll and they can get an immediate mismatch he can't deal with. Your other guys need to be aware and assist while IT needs to be ready to recover or also switch again.
Translation: Hart, JR, Ingram, KCP all fit the bill to help with this but they don't and can't all play with him at same time. I do think when Lonzo comes back (if he does this year) it will help in this department.

That quote is misleading. They got Nance too. When you factor him into the equation, that pick isn’t solely attached to “get rid” of IT.
Why are any criticism or misgivings labeled as pissing and moaning? Is there never a need to find fault in any Laker? Is doing so always irrational? I think Thomas has big issues on defense and the team will probably be worse off for the next 27 games. But so what, the trade was a good idea anyway.
So happy beacuse he is here for only 27 games . After that ship his ass out. We do not need this kind of liability in this team.
Anyway it was good trade.

I specifically said PERIMETER SHOTS because I'm well aware of the math. Most average players in this league, take KCP for example, about 41% overall and 35% from three. You want him over Randle? It all depends on who we're getting if we're getting rid of Randle. Counting down the days till Randle is gone, I just don't get that. I mean if the guy provided an explanation such as believing Lebron or PG13 will take his place, then I'll understand. But it seems like he's waiting till Randle is gone, period. I'm curious if he's Stevie Wonder because he obviously hasn’t been watching.
On Court 31 mins:
OffRtg: 110
DefRtg: 111.1
NetRtg: -1.1
Off Court 17 mins:
OffRtg: 140.9
DefRtg: 156.4

Now please just close this dam thread. It's one game.
The logic is solid; however if IT has 22 & 6 and is still a net negative for the day against Yogi and a rookie, there aren't many wins left on the schedule. The loss of Nance means more minutes for Zubac and too much Randle at C, so no rim protection.
Is it just me or are the Lakers being forced into more help and recover with IT on the court than off? I swore we were running suicide drills out there in the second half.
Jesus this thread is some sad, pathetic (bleep). Get the (bleep) over yourselves. I've never seen this level of vitriol after one game ever. If he turns around and beasts it the rest of the way I hope you all have the good graces to not sit there cheering him on like you were always in approval.
He's a Laker and you're doing this (bleep) after one game.
It seems like the Mavs are basically saying- alright let’s get a switch onto the 5’8” guy and we will likely get a score one way or another!
Dirk you can shoot over him
Doug you can go right past him
(the kid I never heard of) you can become a post specialist at 6’7”
Etc. it’s painful to watch.
I thought it looked pretty obvious. Maybe they need to rewatch the game to really see it. I think people were just excited to see what he could do and subconsciously were overlooking the negatives. We're all fans so I won't judge.
In the postgame interview IT was talking about how he played well individually and how the young guys made mistakes defensively. No mention of his turnovers in the 4th. I'm no longer excited about the last few weeks of this season. Just end already.
did he really say that?
My link is a longer interview than one posted in thread:
To be clear, Thomas did not say that. He said he played "ok"individually and wished they would have won. Also "knowing this is a young team WE made a few key mistakes defensively down the stretch." At the 2:30 minute mark he specifically holds himself accountable for his late game turnover. Additionally, he praised coach luke, the pace of the team and how he feels rejuvenated with the team. Also said good things about Jules and Ingram.

Haters gone hate. He was very misleading with what IT said. Also IT was asked that specifically and he answered. Just a hater looking for something to rag on IT about. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Agreed.
5 wasted pages that should be in the official IT thread. smh
