Thanks emplay - good listen! My thoughts on the $50k tampering fine have been pretty much as you stated in the podcast. Great that you asked Silver directly on this, he needed to field that question. Interesting that Silver mentioned "context" in his defense of the Magic fine, when his first thought on "context" should be: 1) the best interests of the fans, for whom it's perfectly natural for a reporter to want to hear from Magic the legendary Showtime point guard on comparisons of GA's game to his game, and 2) the content of the conversation itself, which require some very unrealistic twists of logic to say that particular compliment from Magic is tampering when the same compliment from any other GM isn't. It's really just a power play on Silver's part, not any desire for a level playing field.
Interesting what players are doing with the 450 initiative, and good to hear BI (in spite of all the background noise) talk about his game, and how he and other players are developing as the season progresses.
yeah - best i could do re: Ingram - definitely not a clean recording situation _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus
On Magics 50k fine, I agree with you guys. If Magic really wanted to sign the greek freak, he could easily make his interntions known thru back channels anyways, like what MOST teams do when they magically sign FAs on the 1st day they can talk! How do we fine the commissioner for a stupid decision?
Sliver should be more concerned about improving the game and the refereeing!
