Hopefully if they try they'll find a much different lineup from the Lakers with some actual rim protection, more Hart, Randle, less IT/Kuz combo, more communication on defense, and adjustments if the Pelicans start to pound on an opening. And more Lopez for the rim protection.
Not confident on this game at all, nonetheless. Away game, I think we're gonna miss Nance for a few more games and the Pels have been winning lately in spite of Cousins going down. |

I'm fine with IT and Kuz getting minutes, I don't mind them both on the floor at the same time against second string players now and then. I fear having both of them on the floor at the same time to close the game against the opponents' best players. Just one or the other, and solid defenders around them. Otherwise that's just a little too porous on defense imo. |

It's what these scrub teams do. They show up to play the mighty Lakers. The Queens are coming to town you say? Ok coach, it's tanking time again. |

True. Even when the lakers are down; they are still the super bowl for the scrub teams. |

Two of our best defensive IQs are gone: either hurt (lonzo) or traded (Larry). Sucks. Besides Josh and Brook, the rest are... sigh. Must... stay.. positive. |

The starting five played solid defence up until the last game. It was a lapse. Probably mental - underestimating the Mavs. Young team's lesson. There is every reason to believe that at least the starters can be as good as they were before the Mavs game. _________________ .

I think they were not prepared for the defensive liability that is IT. Hopefully after a couple of practices, Luke can figure out how to hide IT on D... else we are in some big trouble |
IT an "offensive liability"? |

IMO the the next two games are crucial and winnable. It will take a tremendous team effort, particularly on the defensive end but it's doable.
It would give us a nice boost to win this game and the next one (Minny). I would love for the team to go into the All-Star break with some momentum. |

In fairness, I do think the Mavs get up for the Lakers, even if the mavs are a scrub team. So I don’t think they were tanking like last night, but that’s yet another lesson for this lakers team that they aren’t yet good enough to beat ANY TEAM when they don’t feel like playing defense. |

When it comes to defensive IQ's I think you're right. Although I think Brook may be OK in that department, and Hart too once he gets a bit more NBA experience. Not sure who else on this squad I would trust as a vocal leader and floor general on defense. |

We have to take one of the next two games to end the first half on an up note. (bleep) Mavs ruined our mojo. |

IMO the defense would be best served if Brook Lopez is in the game practically every time IT is on the floor. Brook is basically our only potential rim protector. |
