Simply look for further than the grim reaper's defense against last place Atlanta last night.

I think the NBA needs a face lift, they need to incorporate the street into the game, instead of whitewashing this great sport. Don't get me wrong but I think the NBA is becoming racist! Turn off your TV and hit the streets!

I don't watch every game to watch what my favorite players a wearing, if I cared about that, I would watch Queer eye for NBA guy. I want to watch my Team (the Lakers) go out and play exciting Basketball. Dunking, Dribbling & Dominating. Bring the streets to the game. What do think the people think?

1) Would players have any energy to play Defense if they spent the entire shot clock trying to break their opponents ankles?

2) Looks like we'd have to instigate illegal defense again.

3) You can zone streetball players. Why break your ankles when they'd brick open shots most of the time anyway? They can't shoot in rythmn if you aren't biting on their moves.

The reason the streetball looks so tight is because they play horrible defense. They don't try to shut the other person down, they just go through the motions on defense, untill its their turn to do it back to the person on offense. They also gamble on steals all the time thats why the moves look so tight. If you made a team of the best streetballers and had them play in the nba they would get dominated. Take a look at Rafer Alston he was one of the best streeballers, but he had to change his game for the nba. The knock on him was turning the ball over. I think the term whitewashing is incorrect in describing the type of play, I think their is a formula for success that ivolves team oriented offense and defense, and that has proved more effective than letting one player just break down the team off the dribble.

I've been thinking about this difference, between "streetball" and "NBA Ball"... I've been wondering if this doesn't cut to the core of our problems... We seem more like a "streetball team", with Smush, Kwame, ....etc.. In streetball, real defense is not that important. In streetball you're just trying to attract a paying crowd, with flashy moves... Fundamental basketball takes a "backseat".

We need to get back to the fundamentals, of NBA Basketball.

I think the NBA has to much street in it already. To much flare and fancy crap, and not solid D, and shooting.

To much ball hogging, and not enough passing.

To much showing off, and not enough smarts.

The NBA is getting dumber each year in basketball IQ.

Believe it or not, it's possible for both Streetball and guys like Sasha & Luke to be jokes.

99.99% of streetball is an absolute snoozefest to anyone that understands basketball.

The best combination of streetball style and NBA effectiveness ever, IMO, was Magic.

And there's a rack of things they do that they'd get called for travelling,
etc on in the NBA.

They have tons of skill.

You're just comparing entertainment skill vs. legit hoops skill.

Streetballers aren't just turning down the millions of $$$$ they could make
in the NBA cuz they're true to their roots or some BS.

Most don't have the full skill set required to be successful NBA players.

Like over 99%. Some of the And-1 team has tried out for teams before. They don't make rosters because of actual shortcomings in regards to certain aspects of athleticism, or just missing entire skill sets.

Streetball is totally and utterly stupid. It's all attitude and really nothing else. Sure the guys are athletic and pretty skilled, but the attitude just overwhelms anything else. First of all, everything that makes streetball what is is mostly palming/carrying over/traveling, and the other part of streetball is that no fouls are really called, especially offensive fouls. The whole thing is a joke. The purpose is not to win, but to clown your opponent. I can't stand it.

I used to be a teacher and watch the kids play basketball, and I still play at a gym next to my work where some teenagers come to play. All of them try to learn how to dribble fancy and get all the "tight" moves before learning any fundamentals, and they spend years not really learning how to play. There's a group of junior high kids that come--and organized group that is coached and always plays together, and they consistently smoke (on 5 on 5) any of the players in the gym includuding older high school players? WHy? Because they know how to play with each other and don't do anything fancy, they just take open shots and pass otherwise. The other idiots just try to dribble through people and break them down one on one and miss 75% of their shots because they don't know how to shoot.

And those of you that think that NBA players can't play streetball are only kidding yourselves. NBA players can probably do all the fancy stuff also, but if they did it during a game, they'd be benched so fast. It's not good basketball and it doesn't win games because the ref won't allow any of that crap, get real.

Streetball is like anything else that looks good to the uneducated, but in reality has no substance to it.
