Funny thing is...he says he does not need to recruit - but that is basically what he just did, and he knows it. He just called out Lebron and issued a challenge.

The last thing Kobe would want is the best player of his generation coming here and tying his number of rings.

Yep. Been saying this for the last couple of years unless the youngsters show out in a huge way.

Youngsters have shown progress, but not enough IMO where just 1 max FA comes. That's probably why Magic/Pelinka have carved out 2 max slots.

Yep. He had the skills but not the mentality.

I'm so glad we didn't land him. He may play well in the regular season but watch come playoff time.

I don't think he cares about that that. That's only Kobe fans that care about that.

LeBron is overrated to me. He’s all physical gift. Overpowers everyone.

Kobe Bryant is the greatest basketball player I’ve ever seen don’t care what anybody has to say.

I don't know... it seemed like 6 was the driving force behind his superhuman play right before the achilles.

Love Kobe, but even he needed some convincing to continue playing for the Lakers. This sentiment, which I appreciate from a fanboy aspect and as someone who prefers the mythos and story of sports and fandom, only makes sense if everything basketball-wise is in place and the target is still like "yeah, but why you." And I just don't buy that.

He lit a match under management and they went out and got Gasol. He was on board for a couple years of garbage play.

Wasn't Kobe ready to sign with the Clippers?

Maybe he meant "If a player needs convincing to play for Lakers (or Clippers), 'he ain't the one'"

From the days of Mitch telling PJ Brown in 02 it’s a privilege to play for LAL to Jeannie and Kobe saying crap like this it’s a wonder we have to overpay Luol Deng and Mosgov and get mercy second meetings with fake stars like LMA. S. M. H.

Yeah keep pumping yourself up with this kind of rhetoric Laker fans. Fact the matter is players nowadays don’t give a rats a** about team history and past glory. All they care about is buddying up with other stars to win chips to benefit their own careers. Don’t doubt for one second Kob wouldn’t signed with another team because of the love for the Lakers at discount had Lakers not extended him.

Agreed about him needing to convincing to resign him, even though the team back then was still better than it is now.

And it's easy for Kobe to make a statement like that, when your drafted onto a team with Shaq, Eddie Jones, NVE and get to play with guys like Odom, Gasol and have Phil as coach nearly your entire career. He's been extremely lucky to not have to play for Garbage teams like the Cavs(the old Cavs), Pelicans or Pacers.

It's alot easier talk/win when you have a championship caliber team for 3/4ths of your career, and yet he questions others(in the prime of their career) on why they wouldn't want to play with rookie Ball/Ingram and a garbage rookie coach in Luke.

The reality is the players in this era don't give a rats ass about a team's history, and they don't want to take a 'chance' and sign with a team they hope management can make a winner out of. No one wants to end up being a Karl Malone or a Charles Barkeley. Might as well just go with the best options like Durant did.

GOAT!

But you can see this approach won't go down well with the the vast majority of the coddled babies that are today's NBA stars. That's why Magic got hired as our salesman.

However, I do sense an awakening in Wisconsin....

Yes, yes it does and I love it! If you don't wanna be part of the legacy take your a** to Utah or Memphis. Even though we have been bad the last couple years we have always been committed to winning, that's what we're about, that's what Magic has preached and is trying to instill, and that's what we're getting back to.

Good response from Kobe. HOWEVER in today's NBA, you'll need to
explain why a FA should come here and not elsewhere. It is what it is.
