I think Kobe has more to do with the renewed interested in the league than the Pistons, but you can see that more than two years after the "incident", Kobe can be again the face of the league. 8)

What else do you expect him to say? Detroit is his very own manufactured juggernaut. It would look absolutely terrible if he didn't back them.

Huh?

If he's "one of" the major reasons for interest in your league, that means...

there are other playets who are "one of" the major reasons for interest
in your league.

Can't you then "tell ya he ain't the MVP?"

I'm with ya that Kobe's in the MVP mix, but that right thurr just didn't make sense

Same with the Spurs.

The best thing for the NBA would be Kobe and the Suns doing really well in the PO's

Kobe doing his thing
Suns actually winning a championship with Amare back

There really is no other "player" other than Kobe really...No one is close to his level of play on an individual note to be honest. There might be other things like Detroit, but as an individual...Kobe's THE REASON.

LeBron and D-Wade are still very big fan-draws. Iverson was the same
way once but has lost some glimmer.

But D-Wade was still the #1 Jersey coming into the year.

And LBJ is clearly most people's "next Jordan."

That's just "fan draw" players though.

For MVP, Kobe's in the mix - but you have to put Steve Nash higher given
the Lakers' current record. You have to put a couple other players at least
in the mix with those two (EB, LBJ, Billups, Dirk, etc).

Good to hear that. At least, I hope, the league will recognize Kobe more, unlike the last 2 seasons.

Putting aside who will be the MVP, Kobe cannot be compared to anyone in this league in an individual standpoint.

LBJ doesnt even come close to MJ, or Kobe ( in fact DWade has a more MJ ish flair than LBJ). LBJ is a big guy, but Kobe is the next best thing w/ his turnaround fadeway, quick drive, his finese, his stylish dunks(not like the one-handed hardcore dunks like LBJ).

It's all going to depend on how these teams and players finish. For what it's worth though at NBA.com they polled the fans (who of course don't vote, it's the writers) on who they thought was the MVP:

Kobe Bryant, Lakers

41%

Chauncey Billups, Pistons

12%

LeBron James, Cavaliers

11%

Steve Nash, Suns

10%

Dwyane Wade, Heat

8%

Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks

7%

Other

5%

Elton Brand, Clippers

4%

Tim Duncan, Spurs

2%

It's a landslide.
