New things we know so far about the trade....
The Cavs probably regret trading away IT as he’s getting closer to his Boston form
The Cavs are still the same team even with the roster haul at the TD
The Cavs pick can end up being more value if the Cavs continue to lose....
This trade can end up in the Lakers history books. |

Lakers also got the best player in the trade, the pick and the cap space if needed. Other than that, it was a bad deal. _________________ 17 time World Champions |

Funny how it takes only one good game for a deal to go from a catastrophe to genuis.

IIRCC I was fully support of the trade even when we lost 3 games and that was without IT and Ball playing together in that stretch... also if the Cavs lose a few more games the Cavs pick will be at 19th

Do you even realize that 19th would make them a Lottery team?
To actually drop to 19th, the Cavs would need to lose about 12 or 13 games in a row.
But, like I said, one good game from IT and anything is possible -- even the impossible!
Of course, one bad game and people will be complaining about how bad the trade was. |

- Cav's do not regret moving IT.....I get the feeling their vets are still celebrating he is gone.
- The Cav's are not the same team....even if their record has been similar....anyone that has watched their games, knows they are much more versatile and play with more pace. Their problem in my opinion is more related to Lue and his insistence on playing Thompson and Smith big minutes.....they are better with Nance and Hood starting or getting the most minutes....and Lebron still lacking trust in his teammates.
- The pick will end up being in the 25/26 range....same as it was at the time of the trade.
- In a few years, most will not remember much about the trade.

? Lottery picks go to the bottom 14 teams.
Still, 12th worst record in the NBA would be quite a drop.
Edit - to clarify further, I think IG was saying the 19th pick, not 19th worst team. |

Undoubtly a great trade. There were no downsides to the deal for the Lakers other than losing Larry.
But i think the FO saw the writing on the wall, you cant pay both Nance jr and Julius when neither can shoot.

The one thing I don't understand about the Cavs is - they have to realize that Kyrie was known for killing the Warriors. You trade him for IT, a guy who can possibly similarly attack the Warriors D and at the very least, force Steph to have to play D. Now their plan is to go against Steph with George Hill...they have to be praying the Warriors get taken out early. |

List all the good parts of the trade, fail to list the bad.

IMO, I don't think the Cavs regret trading away IT. IT needed the ball in his hands to produce, and that wasn't happening, as the ball would go through Lebron first.
Also, their current pace is much different with Nance and JC. Their team looks much better without IT. It was really a deal that worked out for both sides.

It was Chick who used to say that the best trades of all are the ones that help both teams. That appears to be what happened here. _________________ We back. |

They had no choice but to trade Kyrie. And as for IT, like IT said it was a panic move. |

I miss the heck out of Larry Nance and the way he captained the defense. Still, I agree on the bolded.
Objectively; we ended up trading away a number 27 pick and a number 46 pick for a pick that's likely to be no worse than number 26 and possibly a couple spots better, plus Isaiah Thomas as an expiring and a bunch of cap room. With the same Jesse Buss/Bill Bertka scouting combo that picked these guys, and also picked Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart, all at spots that are worse than the range in which this pick from Cleveland is likely to land.
I miss Gary Lance but this was a very good trade, whether or not we keep IT. |

Nance has the 6th best RPM in the league amongst PF's. And his BPM (+4.1) is higher than Draymond Green's.
The trade was still good, but it's amazing how underrated Nance is. |

Cavs probably won't even make it to the Finals this year. Kyrie was their closer and a guy you could dump it to and he can make something out of nothing. All lebron does is bully his way to the basket, and dance around with the ball for most of the shot clock. |
